I really like it when shows get different dubs. And as much as I like the old dub, this new one has a pretty awesome looking cast. Really looking forward to it!

I don't think I'll bother with this re-dub. I love NYAV Post, but Ocean did a good job with the dub.

While I really....really....really would have preferred they just went back to Ocean to redub whatever they needed (I know the reason they simply could not just do that, so don't lecture me on that).

The cast they've assembled for the re-dub is solid, mostly.

I totally called it Carrie Kerranen and Kevin T. Collins would voice Murrue and Rau Le Creuset. Great choices but I cannot helped but be puzzled by who they cast as Mu La Flaga. I mean Marc Diraison I thought would have been the obvious person to cast as him, reuniting the Berserk trio once more.

Tom Wayland as Mu La Flaga....I'm honestly shocked he's back in voice acting. Either he was found not guilty of the accusations or there was a lack of substantial evidence. Still I can't help but feel a little concerned here. I'd like to think he had given a good audience that wowed the producers for them to give him a chance. That said he's got big shoes to fill considering how great both Trevor Devall and Takehito Koyasu were in the role. One things for sure, I am glad he isn't directing.

Lisa Ortiz as Natarle Badgiruel? I'm really curious how she will sound. Lisa's voice doesn't instantly make me of the hardened serious officer Natarle is, but perhaps she's got a lower registry that's barely been tapped into (much like Monica Rial was until as of late).

Going back to Marc Diraison for a sec, since he isn't Mu La Flaga, the next best thing is to cast him as Andrew Waltfeld/The Desert Tiger.

I'm also going to call it now that Kevin T. Collins will also be portraying Rey Za Burrell when they dub SEED Destiny, I believe they'll be emulating the casting of Toshihiko Seki for both characters, rather than how Ocean cast them separately with Mark Oliver and Kirby Morrow respectively (who I think gave some of their best performances of their careers).

Also cool to see Ben Pronsky, Chris Niosi and Daniel J. Edwards joining the cast.

The main cast that was annouced already is good but feels a bit uninspired, I won't lie, like Max Mittleman as Kira Yamato, Stephanie Sheh as Lacus Clyne And Cherami Leigh as Cagalli Yula Athha. I think it's due to most of them having done a lot of Gundam characters in a recent short span of time (irony since many fans accused Ocean of this back in the day)

The most promising castings here, I believe will be Casey Mongillo as Nicol Amalfi. While I like Gabe Khouth, I did think he was a tiny bit miscast but good. Casey I think will fit him better.

I'm really excited to see who plays Murata Azrael. I'm predicting either Robbie Daymond or Steve Staley.

While I personally still don't think we need this, it's good for the actors now being cast here and I wish them success. Shout out to Carrie Kerranen for making this her directorial debut and working really hard, they went at this show at such a rapid fire pace working nearly every day in a week. They're already recording on SEED Destiny, Shinn Asuka's been cast and are recording for him. Looking forward to who plays him even if he's Shinn Asuka and the show they are working on is the glorious trainwreck known as Gundam SEED Destiny.

@Autovolt Diraison could still voice Andrew 'Andy' Waltfield, plus I could see him fitting more for him than Mu La Flaga anyway. That said I'm not sure if Tom Wayland can pull him off though. Mostly since I only remember what he sounded like as Arceus. And I DEFINATELY don't want Mu to sound like THAT.

@Abdullab Since when did Funimation dub a Gundam show?

@Dee15gon What I meant was when a dub originally done by ocean gets a redub it`s usually funimation who redubs it e.g includes DBZ, Escaflone. This is propably the 1st time another studio has redubbed an ocean property

@Abdullab Oh. I see what you mean. But if Funimation did dub this. It would've been their first Gundam dub.

@Primal They haven't given a proper date for it yet but I suspect it's sometime next year. They're still in the middle of recording it right now anyway so there's still some time to go before we get the full thing.

Wait, a redub of Gundam SEED? With NYAV? Pretty cool I guess. At least they have a reason for the redub, but the old Ocean dub was a bit rough at times, it was a solid work. Still though I'd a some point love a Turn A or X dub.

I'll repeat what I said on facebook about this recently...

Oh I do feel conflicted on one hand as someone who has been a fan of Ocean Studios/Vancouver in which some of my all-time favorite VAs like Scott McNeil and the like are from there this does kind of sadden me. Especially considering how Vancouver has been getting less & less work over the years (in which at least certain shows such as My Little Pony FiM still give them something to consistently work on).

But on the other hand I suppose these dubs could still be good. (Though I am a little bit more intrigued in SEED getting a NYAV dub since they might use New York VAs in which New York is also a rather underused region.) Then again I do fairly often like to make Dream VA casts of different franchises using different VA regions so I guess I can't be too against this.

Though it would be nice if any Anime Dub company could get Ocean Studios behind any of these redubs, all things considered its only fair. ;) (Though I am aware of the Ocean Dub of Dragon Ball Kai that is still basically unreleased sad to say.)

13 years i've watch original dub yet wonder why redub give not at least some of them come back?

Besides it cause of a canada dub yet there still of sorts being pony series & others.

Yet redub of canada anime from

Dragonball series
Shana series
Escaflowne

(Yet black lagoon get keep same dub even ova maid series)

But really why redub seed series give it only 13yrs gap.

Really been fond of it especially Lacus voice really like hearing Chantal doing of the Lacus.

Yet wonder if still time for anyway make up to those who grew up with watch original dub?

@SilverSkyride Actually Trevor has retired from anime dubbing at this point, he didnt hate it but he has stated that he enjoyed prelay work more often plus Devall hasnt done a dub since his move to LA as a lot of the canadian to la voice actors have done before him.

@SilverSkyride Trevor Devall stopped doing anime for a while now. Also this new dub would have to be union if he was to do voice work for this redub

@Jetman2021 I know. It's being recorded at NYAV Post, but by looking at the cast that has been confirmed as if now, I don't see any New York voice actors in this. Perhaps later down the road we might see them, but all the talent that as been confirmed are local to LA.

@Abdullab Though I admit I do find it a little curious on this regard Canadian to American VA's lately...

When it comes to actresses such as Saffron Henderson & Erin Fitzgerald did work in the US they were still workin on Anime. (Granted the former only worked in the US while temporarily while the latter still does voicework in Anime Dubs though.)

While when the guys such as David Kaye & Trevor Devall do work in the US nowadays its strictly NA Animation & Video Games for them.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure its merely conincidental but it is a odd thing to notice. (Then again there is Michael Donovan who also did Anime Voice Work in the US namely Fate Zero and the Iron Man Anime however unlike the aforementioned folks he still works in both Canada and the US.)

Apparently, this series is getting a redub by NYAV Post (it's the same reason that Vision of Escaflowne got redubbbed; deleted scenes weren't originally dubbed). It's pretty crazy when it costs less to create a completely new dub than to get Canadian voices back to dub deleted scenes.
Domayv
said at 8:10 PM on Fri Aug 11 2017
@whyofbladez It's a different story compared to Escaflowne's situation. Gundam SEED Remastered series is physically incompatible with the existing dub because are no separate stems (i.e. only the voice track) available from the existing dub (https://t.co/Dw4h7rh5hz). Because of that, Sunrise would have to make an entirely new dub. They *could* have handed it to Vancouver but it's expensive ($140-something per hour per person vs. LA's $64.25 per hour per person + (if union) $21.50 per episode per person), and in this day and age, it's just not feasible. Plus, a bunch of the VAs have retired from voice work. Also, the only reason why there were a bunch of Vancouver dubs across the 2000's is because of the existence of stuff like YTV's Bionix block. By giving dubs to Vancouver, they're ensured a chance to air on Canadian TV, and there's a destination around the corner to air that show, making giving it to them worth the cost. Without those such blocks, companies would have no incentive due to the price.

The reason for the Escaflowne redub is because Bandai didn't get the episodes with the extra footage when they first licensed it.
