Both of the older D'Arby's voice actors have voiced Liquid Snake! What are the odds?

@Soul-dragon The way Cam Clarke did D'Arby's "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Raise the pot?!!" is the funniest thing I ever saw.

Great as the dub is there's one aspect that really bugs me about it. I don't like it when stands have a different actor than their user. Grey Fly, Devo, Steely Dan and in some early episodes even Jotaro had different voices than their stands. I don't like that choice.

@Nightmare Crusher That was the case for the jap dub too or it was only for the eng dub? (Except Jotaro)

With the first half of the series done I'm really glad this dub turned out so well. Thanks Tony Oliver, you finally did JoJo justice in English.

Now I'm really looking forward to finding out who's playing N'Doul and the older D'Arby.

I figured I would just revisit a few of my favorite episodes when the dub came out, but I've actually been watching every episode as they come out. Tony Oliver is doing a great job, much better than any previous JoJo dub.

Not to mention Doug Erholtz is absolutely killing it as Polnareff. I wasn't too sure how he'd turn out, but I think this might be one of Doug's best roles in his whole career already. Can't wait for more Polnareff-centirc episodes.
said at 8:01 PM on Sun Sep 24 2017
@Nightmare Crusher In all honesty I wasn't that big a fan of Doug's Polnareff at first (didn't help that it takes a while for Polnareff to start to feel like Polnareff), but this episode really showed him starting to get into the role. So I'm starting to enjoy it too now.

Seems Star Platinum is both Patrick and Matt. The ora and other grunts are voiced by Patrick and when Jotaro speaks through ST is Matt.

@Marakutanay I haven't watched the most recent episode, but in every other one it just sounds like Matthew to me at all times. It's really obvious if you compare the test dub of Star Platinum vs Hierophant Green compared to the broadcast dub.

@Nightmare Crusher I hear Patrick doing the ora ora ora when Jojo fights the captain and Forever.

@Marakutanay Just checked. In episode 6 I think it's still Matthew most of the time, but the ora when he punches the shark is definitely Patrick and it continues to be Patrick in episode 7. Weird how they've flip-flopped like that.

@Luigikun I assume you're talking about this one, right?

I had already seen this when I made my previous comment. He's pretty good there, but that's not what I'm talking about. I mean comedic stuff like the episode where Hol Horse was working with Boingo. I just can't picture how that's going to turn out right now.

Matt Mercer offhandedly mentioned Tony Oliver is directing this.
said at 11:00 PM on Wed Apr 19 2017
@huzaifa_ahmed Now that's interesting news. Was sort of expecting Patrick Seitz since he co-directed the first season and his directorial work bas been consistently great (though I guess Anohana and whatever else he's working on might've taken up his time directing/scripting wise)

Though I guess this is good news for those who didn't like Kevin McMullan's direction on Parts 1 and 2 (which I can't speak of personally having not seen the dub). Tony is always great, but it's a little crazy for him to be working on both this and Hunter x Hunter as long runners (assuming he's not just sticking with Stardust Crusaders and will handle Diamond is Unbreakable)

said at 10:22 PM on Fri Apr 7 2017
@King Marth 64 They already said that they're replacing Part 2 with Season 2 of Attack on Titan. But since they said months ago that they plan to air at least the first 3 Parts people are pretty sure that Part 3 will replace Attack on Titan.

According to Richard Epcar, the full dub of Stardust Crusaders is 'coming up':

Hopefully the release WB gives it will be an improvement over S1's

@JRPictures So is the full dub gonna just premier on Toonami?
said at 11:49 AM on Fri Dec 2 2016
@Unknownsage13 That is definitely the ideal scenario, as this reduces chances for piracy & (hopefully) ensures that anyone who wants to watch it, watches it together for a shared experience (which is sort of intended). As it is, it's a big deal to me that most anime gets streamed sub-only (though its better than piracy), & any dub is just handled by whoever buys the show. That is so weird from an artistic perspective.

*Hopefully* the show does well enough on AS that (maybe part 5?) gets a TV simuldub or something. Kind of like Big O season 2, FLCL2, & I'm sort of hoping that Code Geass season 3 is similar. IIRC it did really well on AS back in the day & a good dub wouldnt be *that* expensive. Plus I'm sure Toonami would *love* to get their hands on it.

If we could fund this somehow, I'm sure that there'd be a demand. We funded several times the necessary cost for that Escaflowne dub, & *that* show was 16 years old plus kinda niche.
said at 11:50 AM on Fri Dec 2 2016
@Unknownsage13 Maybe I'm being a tad optimistic? I just sort of feel that this stuff isnt being capitalized on, when it's totally possible.
said at 8:37 PM on Fri Dec 2 2016
@Unknownsage13 That's the plan as far as I know. The head of Toonami mentioned that they plan to air the first 3 parts of Jojo.

I felt mixed about the first season's dub, but the test dub for this series was incredibly solid. I really hope the entire series will get dubbed soon, and they'll keep most (if not all!) of the test dub cast.

@1dbad They will have to replace Dave Mallow as the narrator considering he already voiced Straizo in Season 1. I'm placing my bets on either David Vincent, Eric Vale, or Scott Gibbs.

said at 10:23 AM on Sat Jun 13 2015
@The Ear of One Presumably some point after the Phantom Blood/Battle Tendency dub. Part of me thinks that a SC dub will be dependent on Parts 1 and 2's success. A release date later this year seems possible, but maybe that'd be too soon after PB/BT, so perhaps some point next year would be a safe guess.

2016 is obviously when the Diamond is Unbreakable anime will begin, though.
said at 1:13 AM on Sat Sep 26 2015
@NCZ My guess is that Part 4 will start around July of 2016. You know based on the break between Part's 2 and 3. However, that doesn't mean it will take that long... or be that soon. But hopefully it will be that it doesn't take that long.

So are they dubbing Stardust Crusader before Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency?
Interesting choice.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 8:10 PM on Mon Jun 23 2014
@LeDom It makes sense for a few reasons.

1. Stardust Crusaders' adaptation is more recent and currently running. It's a hotter property likely to attract more viewers.

2. Stardust Crusaders is by far the most well-known part of JoJo in the west. This is thanks to the Capcom game and the OVAs, which solely adapted part 3, being the first pieces of JoJo media to be released internationally. Additionally, the short-lived Viz translation of the manga only covered part 3, although they're now beginning to do the rest of the manga from Phantom Blood. Most people in the west that are vaguely familiar with Jojo could name Jotaro and Dio without a problem, but they'd have more difficulty trying to identify Kira or Jolyne due to their portions of the series being much less readily-available. Although All-Star Battle's release seems to have rectified this some.

Additionally, this is purely opinion, but Stardust Crusaders is generally considered to be when the series truly started to pick up steam and find its identity--it's one of the most popular for a reason. The Stand-based battles made the series a lot more exciting and unique. Nothing against BT or PB; they're still very good in their own right, but there's probably a reason why part 3 is so popular.

I'm guessing that if the dub turns out to be well-liked and profitable, they might go back and do the 2012 anime.
said at 1:19 AM on Wed Jun 25 2014
@NCZ I hope they do dub the first two as well. Battle Tendency deserves a lot better than being forgotten.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 8:23 AM on Wed Jun 25 2014
@D.A.V.E. Oh yeah, for sure. JoJo's popularity has risen greatly in the west recently, so I'm really getting the feeling that the 2012 anime will get a dub, and it definitely deserves one. I was just saying that the decision to begin with Stardust Crusaders is understandable; nothing against Phantom Blood or Battle Tendency.
NCZ (Admin)

@NCZ Trust me good buddy it's get a lot better
NCZ (Admin)
said at 3:05 AM on Mon Jun 9 2014
@x7samurai Oh yeah, I'm getting that feeling. I haven't read the part 3 manga, but I watched the OVAs and read the plot summaries so I'm fairly familiar with the gist of Stardust Crusaders's storyline. From everything I know it's a definite "enemy of the week" style storyline, but the villains and the battles definitely get a whole lot more interesting as it goes on. Plus it's great getting to grow attached to the characters. This and the Devo episode gave Polnareff some really great time to shine, and the story gets a lot darker once J. Geil and the Hanged Man show up.

I'm particularly looking forward to the battles with N'Doul (he was one of my favourites in the OVA) and of course, the final battle with Dio in Egypt. And Hol Horse is a really entertaining villain so I love every minute he's on screen.
said at 3:14 AM on Mon Jun 9 2014
