The High School of the Dead dub may possibly be the greatest English Dub ever produced by Sentai Filmworks its certainly my favorite Sentai dub by far.I've always found a majority of Sentai's dubs to never really be on par with Funimation's dubs but the High School of the Dead dub is an exception..Sentai always uses the same thirty to forty voice actors for their dubs which usually means their is hardly ever any diversity but the High School of the Dead dub has plenty of it and even some to spare!Leraldo Anzaldua and Jessica Boone give strong performances through out the series especially in episode one(which is easily the best episode in the entire series hell it would be damn hard to fine a more excellent first episode of any series in animation or live action)the scene that plays after episode one's closing credits is one of my favorite scenes from the entire series Leraldo Anzaldua and Jessica Boone are riveting in this two minute sequence filled with desperation and honesty if you want an example of superb voice acting and how it should properly be done then check out that sequence its on par with such great scenes with Kent Williams' as Father in earth's orbit about to devour Truth,Sean Schemmel as Goku declaring that he is the Super Saiyan Son Goku to Frieza(Kai),Brad Swaile as Light Yagami when he is having his mental breakdown in the final episode of Death Note or the two episode long battle between Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Uryu Ishida from Bleach where Terrence Stone and Derek Stephen Prince delivered outstanding vocal performances and vocal delivery that is nearly perfect..all these scenes I personally consider to be among the most accomplished scenes in anime English voice acting history because of the brilliant integrity brought from the voice acting itself and I would add this scene from High School of the Dead on to that list.Steven Foster takes a lot of heat from anime fans because some of the dubs he has directed are of questionable quality like the Guin Saga dub that started off fine but soon turned into a campy and ridiculously horrid dub by the end of the series but you can clearly tell that a great deal of effort was put into this dub from the voice actors and the ADR Director because the remarkable craftsmanship truly shows in the final product hopefully the Towanoquon's English dub turns out just as good!
