I used to think of Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey as Thor and Black Widow. Now I think of them as Roy Mustang and Lust.

Also, did anyone find Wrath really annoying?

@GreenGoblin75 I didn't use to, but nowadays I do. His constant shouting, whining and crying in the later episodes gets pretty tedious. I think he made up for it a little in the movie, though (even if my feelings for the movie itself are pretty mixed).

I love this show so much that I would give up a part of my body to make more seasons. It's also the home that got me into, well, anime.

@Joel the Pokekid So, in other words, you'd perform human transmutation for more episodes?

My family recently got Netflix, and I found that this was on the list. Since I wanted to try out more anime titles, and this was the most referenced one next to Naruto (which, frankly, I've no desire to watch), I decided to try it out. I just finished it a couple days.

I don't like to gush over any movies, shows, books, or such.... but I can't explain JUST how much I loved this show.

I won't go into great detail about it (since there's too dang many), but it's one thing for a movie/show to emotionally jerk me in a single direction: it's another for one to actually pull me at every possible stop along the way. Much like the Transformers MTMTE series I'm reading, Fullmetal strikes that right combination of feels, humor, and drama more balanced/natural than most anything I watch.

The story is fantastic, the animation is fantastic, the emotional impact is fantastic (in more ways than one), and the characters.... it's one of those shows that I can't strike a single favorite character. Although if I HAD to pick, the Elric brothers are the perfect root all-round. I'd even have to say that I found my favorite VA performance in the form of Aaron Dismuke as Alphonse.

That's the abridged version. Even more abridged: I've found my new all-time favorite show.

(Hey, my coffee high is gone now!)

@DreamMaster08X Definitely agree with you. With all the anime I've seen (a few dozen), this is easily in the top five.

If you would like some recommendations for other anime on Netfix that might appeal to you, I'd suggest Death Note and Psycho-Pass. They both have unique concepts, suspense, and writing that get the viewer sucked into their stories.

@PsychicVoiceSpy Death Note probably would be my next choice anyways, at least up to watching FM: Brotherhood (I just need to give my emotions a breather beforehand).

The funny thing is that my sister has been totally hooked on anime and reading manga for the past couple months now, so she's been trying new shows, the most recent being Fairy Tail (likely my 3rd choice). Really, so far, my anime was devoted to this show until I finished it.

I only saw bits and pieces of this in the past. I recently started watching it on Netflix (Watching it back and forth with Brotherhood). I don't know what kept me from watching it for all these years, but from what I watched so far (as of this post, 20 episodes in), this is ONE OF THE BEST (if not THE BEST) animes I've ever seen. The writing, character development, music, animation, and amazing voice acting from both dubs. The English dub in particular, has made me an even bigger fan of Travis Willingham (Come on, I LOVE DOGS, SHORT MINISKIRTS, I'M GOING TO PEE MY PANTS), Vic Mignogna, Caitlin Glass, Aaron Dismuke, Romi Park, Sonny Strait, Christopher Sabat, and Dameon Clarke among others. In the case of the last three, I haven't watched much Dragon Ball. As much as I love Colleen Clinkenbeard, I'm disappointed that Riza Hawkeye isn't given much to do. From what I know however, Rose is given a much bigger role than she did in the manga (Along with Lust and many others), and Riza had more to do in Brotherhood.

This anime is okay, but the dub is terrible. Edward, Alphonse, Winry, and Scar are all bad to me. No offense to people who like this dub.

@SombraMan Edward was great, but I'll agree that the others were just so bland. Especially Al. I couldn't understand a word he said and they really should not use actual kids for these types of roles.

This show had one of the most amazing dubs ever recorded. The performances of Travis Willingham, Vic Mignogna, Wendy Powell, Ed Blaylock, and Dameon Clarke were all so raw, powerful and amazing! Yeah, sometimes a background character or side character sounded a little awkward, but all of the main performances were freaking amazing. This show is generally a treasure trove of great performances and it's a total inspiration to me.

What also made this such a great dub is that they weren't afraid to pull in talent from all over to participate in the dub, whether it was from ADV, New York (Michael Sinterniklaas), and even Scott McNeil! How many dubs do they go out of their way to bring such diversity to nowadays? Virtually none. This was, and in my opinion still is the best dub FUNimation has ever done. The only ones I've seen that I thought came close to this in quality from FUNimation are Eden of the East, the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, Summer Wars, and maybe a couple others.

The show itself is quite spectacular too, but when I think of what I consider the definitive representation of how great a dub can be, I'm not thinking of Cowboy Bebop (which is good too, don't get me wrong), I'm thinking of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Sorry if this just read out like fanboy rambling, but I just wanted to pay tribute to what may be my favorite anime of all time, as well as the voice-acting which has left such a mark on my life.

@PsychicVoiceSpy You should also thank Mike McFarland for directing such an amazing job and he gave it his all in Brotherhood, improving an already great dub.

@Heartfilia Mage 721 Yeah, I should have credited him on that. Just swap out some of the times I said "they" with Mike McFarland. Although, I think Colleen Clinkenbeard co-directed the original's dub with him... can't remember for sure.
