I have no interest in the franchise and have no plans to watch it (even though I'm the one who added and filled out the pages, funny huh?), but from what I know Season 2 is entirely "filler".
Filler = original material (for better or worse) that isn't based on the source material; the ongoing manga series
I guess that's why the later manga volumes are selling pretty well. Fans want to know what actually happens.

Despite this it's my opinion that Season two is way better than the first.

In the OVA's (I think it's called 'A day in the life of Claude Faustus' or something like that) the three of them speak.
