Adventure Time has one of the best Japanese VA casts of any cartoon, Japanese or otherwise.

Damn. Daisuke Ono, Romi Park, Takahiro Sakurai, Kenichi Ogata, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro. They went all out for the JP dub.

Even though this character does not actually speak, I GOTTA SAY THAT 'Snail' is probably the best character of all in my mind c:

I finished watching the first season the other day, and I'm glad I finally watched it. I was worried it would just be randomness for the sake of it, and it sort of is that at times, but it's handled much better than I thought it would be. It's a really fun, creative show with hilarious characters, probably not the best out there but nowhere near the worst I've seen. Plus the lessons the characters learn actually stick with them, which is pretty nice after watching some shows where the characters make the same mistake over and over again.

I think what took me so long to watch it is that I was worried I wouldn't like the replacement voices for the main characters nearly as much as the voices in the pilot, But while they were a little strange to hear at first, to my surprise they definitely grew on me over time and they had great performances. I still prefer some voices from the pilot, but the voices here work just as well for the most part, I'll express more of my opinion on them in the voice comparisons. (I did post a long time ago on the Ice King's page I believe, but that was long before I even considered watching the show and had only seen the pilot.)

Oh, and Marceline is definitely my favourite character so far.

Tried a five episodes, show is really bizarre for my taste(especially the one where Fin has a black creature on his stomach, DISGUSTING)

@CLG Who did Wallace Shawn voice in this show?
said at 11:06 AM on Mon Feb 24 2014
I almost fell from my chair when I heard that Dan Mintz was playing one of Jake's kids. Kristen Schall was one thing, but I had way too much fun with this choice. I hope they can get H. Jon Benjamin, Eugene Mirman and John Roberts to play his other kids too!

I watched the first season on Netflix recently, and to be quite honest... I LOVED IT. Each episode is usually filled with unbridled creativity, the voice acting from everyone is a ton of fun, some of the jokes cracked me up hard, I love the characters to bits, and the animation is very colorful and energetic. And yes, I like the art style too. I haven't had this much fun watching a cartoon in years and I am very excited to check out more episodes.

Now, I may change my opinion somewhat later or get burnt out on it, but I for one think this is a quality show. And I can understand if you don't like it, because I can plainly see why it's not everyone's cup of tea, but to those people who crap on this show to make the fans angry and prove how much of an independent-minded special little snowflake you think you are, I only have this to say: http://youtu.be/4bijbF3gkNk

@PsychicVoiceSpy I totally agree with you. IDK why they don't upload the 2d season onto Netflix.

@PsychicVoiceSpy I have yet to watch the show, but your comment gives me a good-sized twinge of hope.

I think my curiosity of this show stems on one function that I think is surprisingly lacking in some shows and ESPECIALLY movies nowadays: imagination. Most stories that I rarely see people critique on are ones that are heavily driven on exposition and one-dimensional logic. It really saddens me, because that leaves little to no room for the ability to 'create' and 'express' with these stories, or even just have no story and just be as imaginative as you can be! Now, most people just tell the story with barely a passing interest or spark of creativity in characters or visuals to spice up (*cough* Man of Steel *cough*). Not to mention

I've seen few movies in my time that actually take full advantage of it; mostly animation, because heck, you can create ANYTHING you want with it! One of these examples (which I in fact JUST watched a minute ago) is Yellow Submarine. This film is WILDLY creative and just brimming with imagination, taking logic and completely throwing it out the window to make room for that imagination. If you haven't see it, suspend all logic for and hour and a half and watch it!

The more I see of Adventure Time (more snippets than clips or episodes), the more I actually do want to see it, because it looks very promising of wanting to supply that creativity without boundaries. I see what people can mean when they say they don't like it. But at the same time, I see this show, and I honestly do see effort to get more out of something rather than giving us the same tedium we usually get spoon-fed with.

I might be on this page again should I finally see it for myself.

P.S. That video is the best possible description of the pinnacle of narrow-mindedness I'm seeing out of these haters. I applaud you, sir.

@DreamMaster08X *Not to mention the countless sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots, and tentpole films we are probably sick to death and tired of.

@DreamMaster08X Thank you, THANK YOU. I will probably check out Yellow Submarine sometime in the near future, and I'd recommend applying that exact same attitude going into Adventure Time. Just relax, enjoy the creativity, and soak up as much of it as you can. While the show doesn't operate much on logic, the characters have genuine personality and I can tell that the creators are developing the characters and world of the show subtly as they go along. It's a lot of fun with some underlying complexity to it as well.

Generally I think this how is pretty "OKAY" but even it has SOME aspect I really like; in this case, I found myself very fascinated with the Ice King's tragic backstory and how it actually had some thought to it.

I also quite like most of the continuity, despite the order being a little off here and there; when something is learned or some reference is mentioned, they don't shrug it off really.

@Blues No need to shout "it's a BLOODY CARTOON." in my face. I know cartoons are weird but nothing compared to this.

@Ross123 I will tell the truth I don't really like the show, I seen a few eps but it never appealed to me, it's a little too weird even by weird standard

@HienFan Well more power to you then.

No1 is forcing you to like this show cause in the end, it's all opinions.

I myself find this show weird but I yet I can get into it is all.

@Ross123 Some people were pretty protective about the show on DA when I said I didn't like it though
said at 6:51 AM on Sun May 25 2014
@HienFan Doesn't bother me though.

Those people on DA probably have no respect for the opinions of others. Shame on them!

@Ross123 Some people are that weird once you reveal what you like/dislike on any site especially those from big name franchise(Kingdom Hearts, those friggin Kairi haters and their boys love insistent, I do like boys/girls love but not when you are bashing other people it)
said at 8:16 AM on Tue May 27 2014
@HienFan When people are like that, I try & ignore them. I've been told by my friends that things die down quicker that way. Though sometimes that never seems to be the case.

I've seen YouTube videos on what people think of things like cartoons & games. They get bashed a lot for voicing their opinion. One of the youtubers stated that its stupid to get mad when some1 has a different opinion from yours.

I agree with that statement cause it is kinda silly to bash some1 over a drawing or piece of software.

But those are just 2 things I thought might be worthwhile mentioning.

I heard that originally they wanted Dante Basco as Marshall Lee. But I think Donald Glover sells the singing better than Dante would. I was thinking at first Greg Cipes.

We get Cartoon Network in Canada now. I've caught several episodes while playing Pokemon on the couch. This show... it's unpredictable. The stories, characters, dialogue, and designs are all totally strange yet creative. I've got to wonder what goes on in the animators' and writers' minds. It's like a toned-down, American version of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo.

I love it.

I'll be brief.

Someone on deviantart looked it over, thought it was overrated, explained why he didn't think it was all that, I agree with him on the most part.

That is all.

@Sarge Ray Its not overrated persay, its more of it has really good episodes amongst some really average episodes.

I first came to Adventure Time because of a fondness that I found for the Regular Show, and as I wrote earlier - I think the two shows compliment each other perfectly.

Add the fact that both shows rely heavily on untested or relatively unknown voice actors and you have two breakout successes.
