NEWS - Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego...Netflix!
Reported by OptimusSolo on Sat May 20 2017

Carmen Sandiego officially has a new cartoon series in production.

Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) will voice the iconic character, first seen in 90’s school computer labs across the country before having her name splashed across two simultaneous programs, a PBS game show and a Fox Kids cartoon. Now veteran action-toon showrunner Duane Capizzi is handling a new series produced by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and DHX Media (DHX’s predecessor, DiC, brought us the 90’s Carmen cartoon). A full season of 20 episodes has been ordered.

Backing Carmen up will be the disembodied voice of the Player (implied to be the guy playing the game she’s in), voiced by Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things). This new show is said to be an origin story for Carmen, following a younger version of herself across the globe as she learns her tricks. If the description is correct, this would be the first Carmen Sandiego series that follows Carmen herself and not the detectives trying to track her down.

Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego isn’t scheduled to be completed until 2019.

so I'm not sure if Carmen is gonna be the protagonist or the antagonist based on that description - anti-hero, perhaps?

I'm not oppose to Gina trying her hand at voice acting. Hopefully she does well
