NEWS - Transformers Prime Trailer & New Series Coming
Reported by Foxwolf on Wed Feb 13 2013

At the recent Toy Fair 2013, a special edition of a magazine available at the event revealed some of Hasbro's TV plans for Transformers. It confirms that Transformers: Prime will end after the upcoming third Season. On the flipside, a brand new animated series is set for launch in 2014. Here is the excerpt from the magazine:

"As for Hasbro's established stable of series, which drive the programming on its US joint venture network The Hub, the 13 episodes of Transformers Prime Beast Hunters due to launch this year represent the final chapter of the Transformers Prime story. It has grown to encompass 65 half-hour episodes that continue to roll out around the world. Look for a 75-minute Transformers Prime Beast Hunters movie to hit DVD shelves in Q4.

But that's note the end for Transformers. Arnesen says a "new iteration of the animated TV series" is slated for delivery in late 2014, which looks like it might be shaping up to be the year of Autobots, given that audiences are already expecting the fourth live-action blockbuster in July."

IGN also posted a trailer for Season 3, subtitled "Beast Hunters". This is an extended version of the previously teaser, which now gives a full reveal of the new beast character Predaking.

Personally, as for the new Transformers series, I'd love to see them start all over in square one again to reintroduce the war between Autobots and Decepticons. Take a page from the new "Star Trek" movies and do an alternate timeline universe. This way everyone has a chance to be there from day one. I also agree with Foxwolf on them bringing back 2D for it.

Can't help but think that this final season of TFPrime is going to do more to hurt TFP's legacy than help had a chance to be the best TF cartoon we've ever had but this just may ruin that. Hopefully I'm wrong!!

@OptimusSolo I think the toy line either didn't sell to well or didn't meet Hasbro's expectations so Hasbro is rushing Prime's cancellation to get it out of the way so they can make way for the new toy line which will probably be for both the 4th movie and the replacement series and the movie toy lines usually sell pretty good. The Hub being an obscure network may also have been a factor in this as most young children probably didn't see Prime.

@pete Or they actually only planned three seasons. Because there is talk of a TF: Prime movie. The guys had money to spare, still do. Granted the Hub needs to be re calibrated but it's still relatively new.

@pete the Hub is not an obscure network....

@pete There are a lot of audiences that don't have it and probably haven't heard of it either. If someone were to hit the streets asking about it a lot of people wouldn't know what they were talking about it. Not saying it's bad just not that well known.

Wait, so is this new TF series a continuation of Prime or an entirely new incarnation?

@TheVengeanceKnight It's not a new series, it's just the "subtitle" for the third season. It's still regular old Transformers Prime, but for promotional purposes, they called the line "Beast Hunters". It's like the last part of Transformers Armada being called "Unicron Battles".

@TylerMirage I meant the new series after the 13 Beast Hunters episodes.

@TheVengeanceKnight those are the only details released so far. Hopefully by the end of TF: Prime we'll get some more details. I'm thinking Comic Con in July would be the best time for them to announce something new like this.
I'm assuming it'll be a new incarnation. Sounds like they might wanna tie it closely in with the new movie. So with TF4 reportedly having new designs for the Bots, I'm guessing the designs for the new show will be similar again.

Personally I'm hoping to get 2D animation again, esp if it allows more for characters. CG is still more expensive than 2D and unless you can pull off a lot of detail in your characters and backgrounds (like Clone Wars) I think 2D allows for a better visual experience. The TF: Prime bot designs were fantastic, esp up close but the environments were generally bland for me.

@Foxwolf I love CG animation because it provides a nice balance between live-action and 2D animation.

I wonder if this Predaking will turn out. He doesn't exactly have much competition.
