I'm not expecting much on story but as long as there's kickass action and good character interaction/dialogue I'll be happy. With all these heroes in one movie, it's a guaranteed financial success with all the kids that'll flock to see it. The solo movies and animated series is as good a launchpad that Marvel can hope for.

looks cool, but to be honest, i was never really into the avengers, im more of a X-man (subtle pun) what i wud like to see is a justice league movie (preferably with hawkgirl in it, shes one of my favorites and doesnt get much love anymore)

@AMT I know, right? DC seriously needs to get its act together and make movies for JL heroes and a movie with the entire JL.

It looks good and seems awsome but I would actually like SOMETHING about the plot. I know they don't want to give it away so people will see but I want to know the jist of the idea

The marvel films of the last few years haven't been that great..the Iron man films are under underwhelming and bland,The second hulk film was a disaster and The Thor film was average at best.I can't comment on the Captain American film because I haven't seen it yet but I doubt its anything phenomenal. The Avengers film has been built on mediocrity but if is their any film that may able to break the horrid trend of poorly made marvel super hero films this may be the one to do it but I don't see it coming close to the super hero genre's best like Watchmen,Spiderman 1 and 2 or X men United.

Couldn't disagree with you more! The marvel films have been overachieving in my books. I agree Thor was kind of weak and I didn't see Hulk but the two Iron Man movies were real solid and Captain America was the best superhero movie in the last decade, outside of the Dark Knight franchise!

I think the Avengers film has been built on anything BUT mediocrity and I actually look for Avengers and the final chapter in the Dark Knight franchise to both be fighting over records this summer!! BTW Watchmen was TERRIBLE!
said at 11:50 PM on Sun Feb 5 2012
@OptimusSolo Watchmen was excellent especially compared to any of these marvel films which I found to be absolutely horrendous! The Dark Knight Rises is in an entirely different league that The Avengers film simply can't reach. The Iron man films were the most bland out of all the marvel films listed above at least Thor was somewhat entertaining don't get me wrong I want this film to be good just given the past track record with Marvel I can't see The Avengers film being anything more then a summer pop corn film at best.

@IAMTHEVASTUNIVERSE I think you will find yourself quite wrong. And again I respectfully disagree, both the Iron Man movies were better than Watchmen and Captain America was WAY better than of the most disappointing superhero movies I have ever seen!
said at 4:02 PM on Mon Feb 6 2012
@OptimusSolo I doubt it.Watchmen simply had more personality and scope then both Iron man films put together.I had the complete opposite experience with Watchmen when I saw it in theaters in 2009!It ended up being one of the most rewarding film experiences I had that year!I haven't seen Captain America but I find it very hard to believe that its better then Watchmen or any of the previous films that I listed above for that matter. Its fine everyone is entitled to their opinions after all.

I was super excited for Watchmen and even saw it in the IMAX and it literally was probably in my Top Ten Worst movies of 2009.

I can understand why people don't like Thor and even that Iron Man is not for everyone but I am really telling you, you shouldn't lump all of these movies together because Captain America was just phenomenal and I am not a Captain America OR Marvel fan in any way!

@OptimusSolo So many horrid films came out in 2009 I would never put Watchmen in that category whatsoever it made my Top ten best films of 2009 list! What did you not like about Watchmen? It followed the graphic novel's story religiously it never missed a single detail of its story. The fight sequences were choreographed beautifully and the film's score was so damn fitting! The acting was fine and it had an intelligently written script that was perfect for its dark tone. Its Zack Snyder's greatest film to date!I like Iron Man I just don't like the films Jon Favreau just wasn't the right director to make those films if the films were given to a vastly better director then they could of been something great!Well as I've said before I haven't seen Captain America but I can't imagine it being better then Watchmen,Spider-man 1 & 2 or X men 2 which are the greatest superhero movies ever made in my humble opinion.I'm sure its a decent movie like Thor I just believe that Marvel's prime is behind them that's all.

@IAMTHEVASTUNIVERSE I don't want to go into every reason why Watchmen was terrible but mainly it never once had me interested and the pace was terrible.

We can end this debate though - now that you have stated that Watchmen, Spider-Man 1-2 and X-Men 2 are the greatest superhero movies ever made I now know you are absolutely off your rocker when it comes to superhero movies ;)
said at 8:28 PM on Tue Feb 7 2012
@OptimusSolo The pacing of Watchmen was fine perhaps dark super hero tales just aren't your cup of tea.Off my rocker ha ha?No you see most logical and reasonable movie buffs do indeed believe the bulk of the films I listed above are indeed the best of their genre especially Spider-man 2 and X-2 which are not only finely crafted films but are two of the greatest sequels ever made outside of the Dark Knight. If you were to go to any major movie site and look up their lists of the greatest super hero films ever made you would indeed see a majority of the films I listed on those lists.I'm curious what you think are the greatest super hero films ever made?

@IAMTHEVASTUNIVERSE Actually you couldn't be more wrong - I Love the darker movies!

And for the record most reputable movie sites absolutely do not list those as the top of the genre!!

Take the MOST reputable/respected and most referenced review site out there-RottenTomatoes

Iron Man - 93%
Spider-Man 2 87%
X-2 an 86%
Thor - 79%
Iron Man 2 - 77%
Captain America - 77%
Spider-Man 77%
Watchmen 66%

Hmmm, pretty interesting which movie ranked LAST!!! BWAHAHAHA

Ok how about the other huge one - - Score is out of 100

Spider-Man 2 - 83
Iron Man - 79
Spider-Man - 73
X-2 - 68
Captain America - 66
Thor - 57
Iron Man 2 - 57
Watchman - 56

Wow, last again!! LMAO

@OptimusSolo The only negative thing Rotten tomatoes had to say about Watchmen was "the complex narrative structure may make it difficult for it to appeal to viewers not already familiar with the source material." That's all hardly a bad thing.Yes they do indeed list those very films as the best of its genre again look any greatest super hero films of all time list up on the web and they will be appear almost every time!I see you avoided my simple question.

I just provided you TWO of these sites that clearly do not show your point to be true. Did you not see that BOTH of those sites listed Watchmen last and both of them had Iron Man ahead of most of the movies you listed!! And for the record that was NOT the ONLY thing they said bad about Watchmen!

The question you asked was not simple - If you want a well thought out list of my all-time best superhero movies it would take more than a day for me to compile it. I actually put thought into things like that unlike 'some people' haha (jk)

You say that 'yes they do indeed list those very films as the best' yet I clearly just provided you two sources that contradict your claim!

Meanwhile, you have provided NO sources that support yours!

@OptimusSolo I would assume that it isn't to difficult to google for these lists yet apparently it is.Its quite apparent you're confused what you provided was merely ratings not lists! Here a few lists that clearly prove my point.
Their are a vast amount of lists on the web from the last five years with this type of information on it of course at the end of the day its merely based on opinions from movie critics and writers.8)
said at 5:36 AM on Wed Feb 8 2012
@OptimusSolo The official opinion of Rotten Tomatoes without a doubt only had that one negative thing to say about Watchmen every other opinion was of individual movie critics and from what I can clearly see far more positive opinions are given about the film then negative. If we are going to play the childish number game here then is obvious that Spider-Man 2 beat Iron Man in ratings while Spider-Man and X-2 beat Captain America,Thor and Iron Man 2 as well. While in rotten tomatoes ratings Spiderman 2 and X 2 were the clear winners over Thor,Iron Man 2 and Captain America.Do you see how tedious that is?The ratings you showed me are nothing more then statistics as are the lists that I showed you.Its all opinions which of course aren't facts. Its obvious your not going to change my mind as I'm not going to change your mind about the topic.

There are another dozen inaccurate statements in the two posts above along with lots of bad logic being used but since you have conceded the argument I will let it go at that. You are right, it is in the end about opinions but even though you are blind to it, the truth of the matter is MOST actual reputable critics, reviews, and ratings agree with me that Watchmen was simply a sub-par movie. And for the record I never said I disliked any of the other movies. I absolutely love the X-Men franchise.

Sorry have to add this - My original point was in reference to your 'watchmen' comment and how I think it is a bad movie. I love that the three links you provided all help prove that point as only one even lists Watchmen in the top ten and that one lists it as #9!!
said at 11:44 AM on Wed Feb 8 2012
@OptimusSolo I've explained my every point in a completely justifiable manner their is no bad or blind logic at all.I've ever accused you of not liking the X-men Franchise my whole opinion was that X-2 along with the other films I listed are among the best in their genre. It must really irritate you that I love Watchmen because that is one statement you keep applying that its bad movie" when the whole debate wasn't just about Watchmen it was about proving that a majority of the films I listed are indeed highly praised for their fine film making.Which I believe the lists I provided and the ratings you provided completely prove my point.Well you want to talk about "actual reputable critics" Roger Ebert is the most distinguished and respected film critic on the planet..he loved watchmen. I can understand trying to get your opinion across in an debate but the way you went about was unfriendly and haughty especially in the last comment you made with the blind and bad logic remark their is no need for that. This was a harmless debate about movies anyways it was a good debate.8)

You are hilarious. The ORIGINAL point that was being debated was the fact that you praised Watchmen and were bashing all of the Marvel (Avenger) movies as being utter crap. That is the ONLY point I was debating.

In the process I believe you must have realized how inaccurate you were about Watchmen so you brought in the other films to aid (and change) the initial point. I loved Spider-Man 1 and 2 and basically all of the X-Men movies. My point was not about those.

Then your claim became that Watchmen, Spider-Man 1-2, X-2 are the 'best of the genre'. Which again is just not true. Watchmen by all of the rating and reviews (Ebert aside since the dude is insane based on many of his other reviews) is absolutely not in the best. Are Spider-Man and X-Men in the 'top of the genre' I would say they are 'among' the top superhero films but that was not your claim. Your claim was that they were 'the best'. They are 'among' the best AS are the Iron Man movies that you were bashing.

The reason I called it bad logic is because you were arguing absolutes by using words like 'top' 'best' etc which is just silly in a debate. Your other 'bad logic' is in stating that "every other opinion was of individual movie critics and from what I can clearly see far more positive opinions are given about the film then negative." which is simply again not true and I could pull the statistics to prove this if you would like me to illustrate how inaccurate of a statement that was. Then you further used terrible logic by saying by pointing out the ratings I posted. Your claim again was that they were the BEST when RT clearly ranks Iron Man as the best and has the other 'avengers' movies above Spider-Man and Watchmen which just proves my point that they may be 'among' the better ones but again your claim is that they were 'the best' Metacritic also has Iron Man above three of the films you listed.

Would I rank the X-Men movies and the Spider-Man movies above the Avengers movies as franchises...probably but your claim was first that Watchmen was well respected/reviewed/rated which is simply not true and second that the X-Men/Spider-Man/Watchmen foursome were the "BEST" of the genre according to most respected reviews/lists/etc which again is simply NOT TRUE.

I apologize that you took what I was saying personally but when I see someone who is discarding what the original debate/claim was and then someone who is still claiming something when the evidence points otherwise I have to look for ways to open their eyes to how wrong they are.

You are entitled to your opinion and if your claim was that those movies were "YOUR" personal favorites/top of the genre etc than that would have been perfectly fine. But you tried to claim that according to reputable review sites and top ten lists that your four movies were regarded as the 'BEST' of the genre. Which clearly they are not!
