NEWS - Star Wars Rebels Meet "Cowboy Jedi" Kanan
Reported by Foxwolf on Tue Feb 11 2014

USA Today has given us a first look at a Kanan, a brand new character in the upcoming Star Wars Rebels. Described by executive producer Dave Filoni as the "cowboy Jedi", Kanan will be voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.

Kanan is one of the few remaining Jedi that survived the wipeout of "Order 66" and during the 14 years after Episode III (which is when "Rebels" is set), he has been forced to keep his powers and lightsaber hidden as to not draw any attention from Empire, and instead employs a blaster. But with the premise of Rebels being the birth of the Rebel Alliance, Kanan dusts off his Jedi ways as he and the crew of the spaceship Ghost begin their fight against the Empire.

Star Wars Rebels will debut with a 1-hour special in the fall on Disney Channel before moving over to it's permanent home on Disney XD.

The new Jedi Kanan sounds like a very likable character so I look forward to Rebels in the Fall.

Man, this really feels like the original trilogy. As much as I liked the Clone Wars, I'm happy seeing things look a little more classic.
