NEWS - Meet the Voice Cast of Disney's Moana
Reported by Foxwolf on Mon Jul 25 2016

Care of USA Today, we now have a first look at the supporting cast of Moana, the upcoming Polynesian fantasy adventure from Disney.

The story is about Moana (voiced by newcomer Auli'i Cravalho), a princess born into a family line of navigators. On her ocean traversing journey, she meets Maui (Dwayne Johnson), a legendary demi-god.

Now meet the voice cast for Moana's family and some of the characters she'll encounter on her seafaring adventure. The quotes are from directors Ron Clements and John Musker about the characters.

Temura Morrision as Chief Tui
Moana's father and chief of Motunui Island.
"He's seen bad things happen because of this imbalance of man and nature, so he wants everybody to stay inside." (in regards to Moana's desire to sail the Seven Seas)

Nicole Scherzinger as Suna
Moana's mother
"She's very warm and supportive of her daughter, but she's trying to negotiate the difference between the two of them and be this peacemaker."

Rachel House as Gramma Tala
Moana's grandmother
"Tala is kind of the village crazy lady. She has a close relationship with Moana, closer really than her parents in some ways. She really helps propel Moana on her journey ..."

Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa
Villainous 50-foot crab
He and Maui share a history.

Alan Tudyk as Heihei
Dimwitted rooster
"He may be stupider than most chickens you have met." (Hehei doesn't have any dialogue, but Tudyk came up a bunch of rooster crows and other sounds)

Check out the Moana page for a look at these new characters.

Moana sails into theaters on November 23rd, 2016.

Lemme guess: the chicken is going to be either the real villain, an evil sidekick, or a red herring. Because those are the only roles Alan Tudyk has played in animated Disney movies nowadays.

 5 Shout Outs!
Jemaine Clement as your villain is always a good sign. That and at this point I think it's safe to say that Alan Tudyk has become Disney's new good luck charm. Kind of like what John Ratzenberger is to Pixar.
