I like DreamWorks Animation's work, but I'm sorry this is hands down their worst film.

This is basically a poor man's version of Finding Nemo. Would've worked much better if it was a live action dark comedy.

I personally believe that this movie would have been SO MUCH BETTER if it were about Lenny rather than the creepy Will Smith Fish.

I've said that I feel when I said the plot to this film out loud, why was this animated? It's about a nobody who wants to be someone and through a series of unfortunate incidents he gets famous but ends up getting the mob involved. This plot sounds like it could lead to some good humor and chemistry between characters, it'd work even better I think if they made it like a dark comedy, like a Tarantino style film.

We already have veteran actors known for mob films like De Niro, Falk (RIP), and even have Scorcese in the film so they aren't strangefrs to these films. Even Smith and Jolie have done some serious films in the past, so seeing them do a dark comedy would've been great, and if you still had Jack Black it would've been a nice change of pace for him.

You literally could just take the fish element and jokes out of this film, make this a live action film and you could've possibly had a great film.

It's kind of how I feel about El Dorado, Sinbad and Prince of Egypt. Though while Prince of Egypt and Sinbad both take advantage that their animated, they still could've easily been a live action film, especially El Dorado which has literally no reason to be animated in the slightest (doesn't mean I don't like these 3 movies though).

@skeletonking1234 By this logic, wouldnt you say that most anime have no reason to be animated, & that they would preferably be live-action?

@huzaifa_ahmed If they don't do anything to take advantage of the animation medium and only say or do things that any live-action cast and crew could do, then yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what he's getting at.

Oh, LORD, do I hate this movie.

The voice acting is ANNOYING, the characters: annoying. The constant pop culture, ethnic and racial stereotypes and attempts to try and buy off the success of Finding Nemo-GAH!

How do I know this movie rode on the success of Finding Nemo? It uses the same "vegetarian shark" shtick, but tries to make it a plot point. In Finding Nemo, it was a JOKE that wasn't even around that long. Using it as a plot element? Won't work.

And, to think, this is supposed to be a children's film, yet it makes constant references to mob movies like "The Godfather", "Untouchables", and "Goodfellas" (i.e. Robert DeNiro as one of the sharks). What kid would GET these references?

The only thing I remember remotely liking was Will Smith and, let's face it, he's Will Smith: able to take some of the stupidest lines and make them sound cool.

This is considered, by many, to be one of Dreamworks Animation Studios' WORST movies, right up there with Shrek III.

I don't even know what to say anymore. It's just BAD. I have no idea as to how to give this movie ANY form of dignity.

My advice? Watch "How to Train Your Dragon", "Kung Fu Panda", or "Shrek"/"Shrek 2". Just...stay clear of this movie.

@Sarge Ray you do have to admit, zootopia made gangster references work.
