Is it wrong for me to think Fred was wasted in this film?

@HyperVoiceActing Yes and no. Your concerns are more than likely shared by many people. But at the same time, you have to remember the age-old adage: there are no small parts, only small actors.

Would it have been great for Fred's roles in the movie to have been meatier? Perhaps even heard his speaking voice? Of course it would've been cool. But I'm impressed and thankful that a.) the role was voiceover, rather than being straight-up sound effects and b.) that because it WAS voiceover, they went with a talented veteran like Fred.

@TylerMirage - It's more so a jab towards the writing and direction. Goldar, from what I remember in the show, was a reoccurring character with plenty of dialog to give. I would have liked if they kept that and let Fred really go whole hog with how over the top the character was.

Sure, it would have clashed pretty badly with how more seriously the movie was trying to take itself. But at the end of the day, it's still Power Rangers. Nothing wrong with having a bit of silliness here and there, and I think Goldar was sort of a miss opportunity with that. Hence why I felt Fred was wasted.

I really like this movie. Were there moments that fell flat...kinda...the opening joke I thought just wasn't funny.
That said, when this movie is good it's pretty good. The movie's strong point is it's main characters, they are very likable and relatable.
The movie editing really tries to get to the point, doing some quick cuts and sometimes it can be a little jarring.
Still, I'd reccomend this movie.

Oh and it does a really odd thing with Krispy Kreame doughnuts. I get advertising and stuff but what they did was just weird...funny but weird.

@Music Meister The fact that they went out of their way to make Krispy Kreme an important plot point is like, full-on 90s Power Ranger cheese. XD

The movie was pretty good, it could have been better but I look forward to more from this franchise. It was better than the Transformers films and the recent turtles films IMO.

If you liked Transformers, GI Joe Retaliation, you'll probably like this. I went in expecting to get, just a fun, dumb action movie and that's what I got

@skeletonking1234 There wasn't that much action though. I know people had issues with the movie's first trailer (myself included), but I'd say it was far more indicative of the film's content.

Oh man, as someone who loved this show so much growing up as a kid. I'm so excited for this film. The show means so much to me and seeing it recreated to the big screen is so awesome!!!

The crew has also confirmed that Goldar will be in the film & was wondering who they gonna cast as the new voice. I've got an idea for some portenel actors who would fit the part:

Ron Pearlman
Scott McNeil
Clancy Brown
Michael Dobson
Paul Dobson
Brian Dobson
Frank Welker

Who does anyone think should play Goldar?
EPA Deane

If anyone's already caught up, this movie was filmed in Vancouver, Canada, which makes me wonder if they'll hire Canadian voice actors to provide voice for the aliens or Putties like the Dobson brothers or Gary Charlk. That would be mint!

@UK-Otaku Well, no Vancouver VAs doing voiceover roles, but Garry Chalk did get a small role as the Police Captain in a deleted scene.
