OLIVER AND COMPANY is not a particularly great movie by any means (and it certainly pales compared to Disney's best), but nonetheless I do have a soft spot for it. This extremely loose retelling of Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist" casts Oliver as a stray kitten, and the Dodger and his pals, dogs. Dom DeLuise (God rest his soul) plays a human Fagin, while Sykes is a mean-spirited, brutal villain. Neither the storyline nor the animation are top-notch, but OLIVER AND COMPANY DOES benefit from some solid voice talent, particularly Cheech Marin, who steals every scene he's in as the scrappy Chiuawa Tito, and Bette Midler is a hoot as the snarky poodle Georgette. The soundtrack, too, is catchy and lively -- a modern-day rock'n roll score highlighted by "Why Should I Worry?", a jaunty song delivered by Billy Joel (who also voices the Dodger, surprisingly well).

OLIVER AND COMPANY is not likely to be remembered as one of Disney's greats, but despite its faults, it's a pleasant enough diversion for 74 minutes.

@JTurner As someone who writes long-winded and obnoxiously opinionated reviews, I agree. The movie wasn't the best, but it was charming.
