Only two things stand out for the film IMO.

The art style, which looks very nice.

And Carmine Falcone, who I think was portrayed very well in this film.

I have to be honest here. I didn't like this movie as a whole.

First and foremost, I think it should be called "Jim Gordon: Year One; starring Batman" because it focuses more on Jim Gordon and NOT Batman.

Second, I found the monologues to be irritating. I don't care if it's Frank Miller's style, it just irks me.

While the final act makes the movie kinda worth watching, the first act is a chore to sit through.

Finally, it has several characters introduced like Catwoman and Harvey Dent, but doesn't make full use of them.

As a whole, I found the movie disappointing. And before you go on about how Frank Miller is god, I advise you look into Linkara's reviews on his work and realize that he's a lot more flawed than most people believe him to be.

@Sarge Ray I have to agree for the most part. I was just freaking bored throughout most of this movie, and an actor as versatile as Bryan Cranston was wasted on the stale material they gave him for Gordon. Ben McKenzie, IMO, sucked bricks as young Batman. I couldn't even bring myself to care about a single character in this movie.

I thought The Dark Knight Returns was MUCH better. It wasn't perfect and parts of the narrative there seemed a little hokey to me, but I thought it was much more interesting, enjoyable, and compelling than anything in this.

I can barely even remember anything about the plot itself, and I saw it not even a year ago. The art style bored me, every character had these freaking dull, colorless, beady little eyes you see here on this page (I just want to smack the character designer for this), the monologues bored me, the color palette was weird and unpleasant to look at at times, etc.

It left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth, mostly because these DC animated movies are usually at the very least entertaining, but this one was just a dud.

...Okay, rant over. But yeah, I couldn't get into this one.

there are 2 credited characters that I'm unable to match with images.
Thug #1 and Guard. If anyone knows what they're supposed to look like, please feel free to share.

Also, if anyone can confirmed who voiced all the minor characters, that'd be helpful too.
