I thought the songs in this film are .... meh.
The only ones that I REALLY like were "In the dark of the night" and "Once upon a December". "Learn to do it" grew on me overtime.

After a string of commercial and critical failures starting with 1992's ROCK-A-DOODLE, Don Bluth bounced back with ANASTASIA. I don't particularly like this movie, but I will confess that compared to many of Bluth's other lesser features, this one is above them and it has something that the likes of ROCK, PEBBLE AND THE PENGUIN, A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK, and TITAN A.E. did not -- a genuinely interesting story with an emotionally engaging set of characters. The songs are also very solid and fitting with the tone of the feature. Unfortunately, there are problems: the leads are not particularly compelling, at least in my opinion, and the villain subplot is unnecessary (despite a tour-de-force performance by Christopher Lloyd), but the animation is gorgeous and there is chemistry between the cast, and so for that, ANASTASIA gets points. I still think it pales compared to Bluth's better efforts, but it's certainly not the worst of his output. Not by any means.

@JTurner What is the worst Don Bluth film in your eyes?

@EPA Deane THE PEBBLE AND THE PENGUIN, IMO. That was just a lame film.

@SiRenfield It's got a cool villain song and nice animation. Otherwise not much to say about it.

Always wondered why Kirsten Dunstable didn't do her own short bit of singing, she has a really sweet voice

I like Don Bluth, but I find it hilarious that he wanted to stray away from the Disney formula after working there; with Anastasia, he finally gave into the formula.

This became his highest grossing movie.

And I think it was mainly because of that.

@DreamMaster08X Contradicting fact aside, I still think this is a pretty good movie.

So excited this is coming to Broadway. It's my favorite musical next to Chicago.

 2 Shout Outs!
Don Bluth's best right up there with NIMH

its kind of annoying, but it is all made up with Rasputin played by Christopher Lloyd. All the songs are annoying, the animation is okay, and the acting is to, but overall its not one of the best animated films ive seen

@OptimusSolo There's been some common misconception about theis film being Disney

@MatthewC17 With how closely the movie follows the 90s Disney formula, it may as well be :/
