Last night for the first time ever, I sat through Aladdin in its entirety and yup it definitely lived up to the hype. Haven't been this impressed with an old classic that holds up so good since I watched Pulp Fiction for the first time last year.

and of course, Robin William's Genie truly stole the show. Though Jonathan Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried were also really enjoyable here.

I definitely wished I had seen this movie when I was younger, I would have loved it even more I'm sure.

 1 Shout Out!
so apparently I've been hearing rumors that they're planning a live-action remake of this

DON'T
DO NOT
NOT WITHOUT ROBIN

@CaptainGrumpy I understand that mindset, but it's kind of flawed. Consider how many remakes there have been that have recast actors/characters that have been equally as iconic or well-received. Some met expectations, some didn't.

Robin did a phenomenal job as The Genie. I don't think there's a soul out there who could deny that. But Robin is not Genie and Genie is not Robin.

I mean, heck, this guy here did a great job as a new interpetation of The Genie that was fresh but also paid homage to the animated Disney version.

If they want to remake it and recast Genie, that's their prerogative. But don't feel like they are - or should - for some reason be tied down and limiting themselves because of Robin's passing.

This movie inspired countless others in its humor, pop culture references and somewhat its marketing, which was pretty sincere and honest compared to its successors, know what I mean? Also, the animation is great. The colours really jump out at you.

I have to wonder if the Peddler was actually the Genie in disguise the whole time.

@Ikrani I doubt it.

@Ikrani According to the film's audio commentary, that is actually how they were going to end the movie originally: by revealing that the Genie was really the peddler. They cut it because they felt like it "messed with the pacing" or something like that.
