Now THIS is a very eccentric setting for a character like Goofy: subarban dad trying to raise an angst-ridden teen going through the typical coming-of-age rituals of discovering independence, girls, and social acceptance in a story involving rock and roll, tall tales, high school pranks, and... Bigfoot? Surprisingly, though, it works. Not only does it give Goofy a chance to express his emotional side, it also is peppered with delightful songs (the Powerline rock numbers especially), memorable scenes, and, at the core, the relationship arc between Goofy and Max as they learn to see "eye to eye" with one another while helping the latter getting out of a silly predicament. More emotionally charged than laugh-out-loud funny, but while not a "classic", it is still a favorite of mine.

 1 Shout Out! [?]
Honestly, one of my favorite Disney films, PERIOD. I actually rank this alongside Lion King, Fox and the Hound, and Lilo and Stitch for me. There's just something about this movie that's always touched me.

"Goofy in a story about high school students, rock and roll concerts, and parenting teens? Sounds odd, but it's actually great fun."
