*It should also be noted that this movie is an indirect sequel to another Studio Ghibli film Whisper of the Heart. In that film, Shizuku is writing a fantasy story and many fans believe this movie is the story she was writing, which could be an explanation of the inclusion of The Baron and Muta in this movie as they were in the previous film as well.
