I don't think Toei have had any previous involvement in the casting of foreign Dragon Ball dubs so I would imagine they probably had no involvement here either.

If I had to guess the reason for so many manly Goku voices, it probably comes down to stereotypical casting, "He's a muscular guy so let's give him a masculine voice". It could also just be a way of playing it safe with their target audience and making the hero sound like other heroic characters which, back in the 90s, deep to medium was the standard (although not as deep as the heroes of the 80s).

Then again, it could've also just been a result of using another foreign dub as the source of translation (such as the French dub) and basing their castings on the sound of those voices, rather than the Japanese.

I'm not sure if Toriyama insisted Nozawa continue playing Goku into adulthood but that strikes me as something he would do based on his sense of humor. It seems like something that would be very easily be lost in translation, though.

So, any ideas on who you would cast as Vados & Champa in the Bang Zoom dub of Dragonball Super?

Megan Hollingshead, immediately, for the former. Not quite sure on the latter but a few names come to mind: Kirk Thornton, Doug Erholtz, Brian Beacock, Keith Silverstein (maybe), though I'm not really positive on a real dead-ringer, so to speak.

They've been showing reruns after episode 13. No idea when new episodes resume.

Makes me wonder whether they will release the new episodes simultaneously with FUNimation's dub after they air episode 13. Just a theory.

You could be right too.. And they are still dubbing the finale of season 2 (Judging by Kaiji tang's recent tweets) ,they probebly pulled it off air so they they can finish the dubbing at their own pace not rush it!!
