Well, just my luck. I turn on the TV and part three of One Shall Rise was on.
Amazing episode, as always! I loved seeing Prime and Megatron battling side-by-side, the whole "journey to the centre of Unicron" aspect, Soundwave showing his true colours, and especially the twist at the end. I forgot how great it was that Frank Welker came back. His Megatron is arguably better than ever. Now I just have to watch the rest of the season... |

I don't know why, but I find this rendition of Transformers to be incredibly boring. I mean, it has some cool ideas. A good portion of the cast just doesn't click with me. First up, the human partners. I'm ok with Jack and Raf as characters. But, Miko? She only exists to be annoying, cause trouble and nearly get the autobots killed (mostly Bulkhead). But, with that said, three humans just seems overkill, especially since we should be more invested in the Autobots. But, we only get to know 3 out of the 5 bots. Ratchet, Arcee and Bulkhead. They're cool, but they don't really have much of a dynamic toward each other. Now radiospeak Bumblebee. Talking is a part of Bumblebee's character, and bringing the radio speak in here just seems...I dunno...much. I mean, it was cute in the movies, but...you essentially lost a character here. We don't get to know him at all. Now, Optimus Prime here is pretty bland. The only purpose he served in this show so far is give very one-sided over-dramatic exposition and cool battle cries. Only recently they tried to develop him, but they had to take away his memories to do it? Really? Meh. Megatron is pretty bland too. He's just...evil. Even Animated Megatron had his layers. I will give this show credit for giving the best rendition of Starscream though. I'm still probably gonna watch season 2, though. I'm kinda curious where they're going with the rogue Starscream and Orion Pax deal.

I agree that Miko has to go. She's nothing but trouble. She's not grown as a character and consistently heads into the ground bridge even when asked not to. And Bulkhead listens to her instead of his superiors?
The rest of the series is great though. Arcee is my favorite. She has the most layers and has been given the most character development. She's caring, but also a totall badazz. Bulkhead is the dumb muscle but not as dumb as his TF Animated counterpart. Bumblebee while cool should really have been able to talk, or at least have radio talk instead of beeps. Ratchet started getting the blunt end of the stick being stuck at HQ all the time until he got that "don't take drugs" episode. And Prime is just Prime. I think it's expected we all know who Prime is as a leader so he didn't get much development. This memory loss storyline is new and should prove to be very interesting. The Cons are all pretty cool too. Screamer is the most developed, then I'd say Airachnid, and it'll be interesting what they do with her. Knockout is a fun character while Breakdown is just the Con version of Bulkhead. I kind of agree that Megs could be more layered. Apart from Miko, the kids are fine. I like Jack and his relationship with Arcee and his mom. Raph started showing his insecurities about his parents fighting (when Jack and Miko were fighting) but they haven't explored it any further. Oh, and I don't like Agent Whats-His-Face. He's ALWAYS in a suit and I can't take him seriously. Unicron being part of the Earth was very interesting but I felt he took a back seat in the finale and it was just focused on Prime/Megs' history. I'm totally looking forward to Season 2 and what they do with Prime being with the Cons. Hopefuly it'll last a few episodes and have a good payoff. Also looking forward to combiners and Dinobots (if they even get intro-ed in Season 2).

David Kaye returned to the franchise in "Toxicity" as Hardshell.

Yes we know, hence why the character was added to the page hours before you posted this.
