VoiceFolio - portfolio of your voice work

"VoiceFolio" - A portfolio where you can showcase your voice acting skills.

This idea already exists in a different thread but I want to give it it's own thread.

Here are the proposed sections.

1. Voice specific profile
- Username/Avatar
- Biography
- Voice Acting Status: (Novice, Semi-professional or Professional)
- Years of Status Experience: (None, 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10+)
- Voice Acting Representation: (None currently, Agent/Guild or Independent)
- Looking for work in: [Examples: Tv, radio, commercials, cartoons, fan dubs, etc.]
- Specializations: [Examples: Male, female, heroes, villains, robots, aliens etc.]
- Accents:
- Equipment/Hardware:
- Programs/Software/:
- Contact Info:

2. Voice acting clips uploaded to BTVA
a) Known/Existing Characters
- Pick any character on BTVA and record a clip of your best impression
- Visitors will be able to listen to your clip from a subsection of BTVA character pages
- Share voice acting techniques used to imitate the voice (breathing, narrowing throat/nasal passages etc.)
- Visiting members can Like and Comment
- Possibly vote for favorite/best clips

b) Original Character
- Create voices for your own original characters
- Short description about the character and creation of the voice
- Share voice acting techniques used to imitate the voice (breathing, narrowing throat/nasal passages etc.)
- Possibly vote for favorite/best clips

3. Categorize the voice clips above
- Characters, Commercials, Narration etc/
- Separate section for non-dialogue driven voice acting like creature/animal sounds, laughing, action sounds (fighting, getting hit, dying) etc.

4. External Voice Work
- Embed video (YouTube, Vimeo etc)
- Embed audio (4Shared, SoundCloud etc.) (http://audio.tutsplus.com/articles/w...-audio-online/)
- Links to work

5. Visiting members can "Follow" a member and get updates whenever new voice work is added to their VoiceFolio.

6. Maybe you can Favorite members individual voice clips.

This is actually something I would be interested in and think its a great idea - I can give more feedback later

Also, not sure if Voice This!, AYVO etc. clips should appear on this page or not.

You should link this into the blogging idea, especially with original characters area, so that there's an icon next to it to show what they did and how they felt about it.

You probably won't always get a 1:1 match but it'd be quicker than looking through a blog for something specific.

Each uploaded clip could have a property indicating how many takes it took to get the final product.

I like it but I don't know if anyone would honestly care how many takes it took.

That's true. Though I just wanted to jot it down since many people find it a skill if you have the ability to go in for a cold reading, which relates to how many takes it takes you to record.

I was actually just about to suggest something like this, and then I found the idea already brought up and in better detail than I had come up with. I think this is a great idea and I look forward to it's integration to the site in the future. It'd especially be useful to a guy like me, who honestly isn't trying to go pro at this point and is more into voice-over (of my own) for the fun it brings me.

Heck, I'd been considering doing something like this on my Youtube eventually anyway, but if it becomes something I could do here, I'd just do it here instead.

The only additional thing I can think up off the top of my head that I didn't see listed (I could have missed it though), is the following.

I think it would need to somehow work to where you could have multiple takes of the same character up at once, in some instances. For example, say this was up and I wanted to do some TMNT voices to put on it, and I was starting with Leonardo. Being able to do just one take would be fine, but this character has multiple incarnations already. So it'd be cool to have the option to do an impression of the 1980s toon version, one of the 2003 version, one more based on the comics, one completely original take - and so on. And have each one as a separate voice file, each noted with a picture of that version of the character.

It's not a must, but I think it'd be pretty cool to have that option. I can see how that might run up space on the site way fast too though.
