Tony Jay is my favorite Shere Khan. Not only he did sound identichal to George Sanders (the original Shere Khan) but he made him sounds more sinister, vicious yet still sophisticated and powerful. A shame we lost him.. he was simply wonderful. Tony Jay had one of the manliest voices to ever exist, his voice could stand alongside such manly behemoth of voices like Christopher Lee in pure manliness.

Disney should hire Earl Boen to voice him, since he sounds exactly like Jay (and therefore Sanders).

I like Shere Khan being voiced by Sherman Howard...but I am also looking forward to hearing him be voiced by Idris Elba.

I like him being voiced by George Sanders in the 1967 Jungle Book and Tony Jay in the 2003 sequel.

If The Jungle Book eventually gets added in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and if I get the chance to voice Shere Khan, I could use either my impression of George Sanders or Tony Jay. But I don't know which one they'd like better, just sayin'.

@Jacob M. Keene What if you did Sherman Howard's impression from Mowgli's Story?

@jodmARTin I haven't seen that movie yet, but I want to. I wonder, does his voice for Shere Khan have any similarities with Chief McBrusk from "An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island" (which is really the only role I know Sherman Howard for)?

@Jacob M. Keene Yes, Police Chief McBrusque would sound similar to Shere Khan from Mowgli's Story since Sherman Howard did both their voices.

@jodmARTin Hmm, okay. I hope I get to see the movie at some point, especially since Brian Doyle-Murray voices Baloo!

@Jacob M. Keene Did you research the movie? Because I know that Brian Doyle-Murray voices Baloo in Mowgli's Story. It's one of my favourite movies!

@jodmARTin Well, I looked at the page for the movie a couple of times, but I didn't do extensive research on it.

I'm surprised that Corey Burton hasn't voiced him yet.

I'd like to hear Clancy Brown voice him.

I wonder how Jeremy Irons would go doing his voice.

@jodmARTin He'd be good, but he'd just sound like Scar.

I always thought Jeremy Irons would make a great Shere Khan.

I thought I read somewhere that Thurl Ravenscroft *didn't* voice Shere Khan. That it was just a rumor he provided his low notes at the end of that one song.

@Dogman15 Ravenscroft provided Shere Khan's vocals for a deleted song that can be heard/watched as a special feature on one of the DVDs. Just listen to his voice compare clip.

@Dogman15 yeah Cats is right, Bill Lee (who was also in the Mellomen with Thurl Ravenscroft) did that one line.
