Love Takahiro Sakurai but I would have liked to hear Steve in Smash. Seems a little out of place since I doubt most Western fans are familiar with Sakurai's voice for the character.

Ah well, he's still in the FF series, so that's not a huge deal.

@SNaG I just like on a meta-level that the character who's arguably the face of Japanese RPGs only speaks Japanese. Similar to Marth.

@NCZ I feel as if I may have made a comment here, & then it was removed...I was interested in the production of this game's dub, & I thought it relevant to the topic. I'm not sure why/what happened to it. TY.

So in the end Steve didn't voiced him for Smash.

I wonder if it has something to do with the "Sakurai" surname. :P

Just kidding, but it's a lame anyway.

Steve Burton was the Unknown pick, but he has carried on to create a very fitting voice as Cloud in English. will he do it gain? will there be more voice work for him?
either way a very well done voice.

I enjoy Steve Burton as Cloud, but I'm 50/50 on him returning to voice the character in FF7's remake. He fits well for the brooding aspect of the character, but I don't know if he could handle the complexity and range of emotions Cloud has in his debut game.

I think Liam O Brien or Troy Baker would be good picks. Kinda obvious choices, but they'd fit him well.

I really like Steve Burton as Cloud

Hmm Cloud, his English voice is all over the place, in some games like the first Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children were okay enough but in other works (KH2 comes in mind)he sounds so bored stiff

Either way I prefer Takahiro Sakurai, he sounds generic but he's more consistent in the emotional station

@HienFan Half his career (KH, Advent Children, Crisis Core, and some of the first Dissidia) he sounded great, but the rest (KH2, Dirge of Cerberus, the rest of Dissidia, and all of Duodecim) he sounded really bland and emo.

Mark Hildreth is still my choice for a non Steve Burton Cloud voice.

@Galactic_Cyrus That's what I meant on Steve, half are crazy boring like Steve is about to fall asleep problem is most of the boring work are more recent(god lord if he's gonna sound like that if Cloud appears in KH3)
I said this on Squall's page but I can see David Boreanaz as Cloud but Mark could be a good choice as well or Kyle Hebert

@HienFan Nah, David Boreanaz made a perfect Squall. The problem is that Squall was meant to be a brooding, stoic character whereas Cloud was not. They just changed Cloud's personality due to fan misconception of him.

Steve Burton has a great voice for Cloud. Only Mark Hildreth would fit just as well, IMO.
