Masako Nozawa brings a warmth, charm, and sincerity to the role that nobody else does.
For English, I'd probably go with either Peter Kelamis, who captures much of what Nozawa does for the character, or the Abridged fandub VA, MasakoX (Lawrence Simpson), though his Goku is an intentional exaggeration.

Schemmel is the definitive Goku for me.
IMO he does a fantastic job capturing the youthful, energetic and childish personality of the character and also the cocky, intense (when mad) version of the character. Great yells too!
I hope Funimation dubs the OVAs soon (Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return and Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans).

they all do a great job. Even as a kid, Schemmel's "Mad Goku" always sounded a bit awkard at times. Oddly enough, Peter Kelamis works really well for me. I assume Nozawa was the actress for the japanese version and Castaneda was for spanish.
