Dee Bradley Baker won for Best Male Voice Actor of the Year? Epic!

Man, I hate being late to the party :-(. Oh well, next year I'll have my chance to vote. I'll be posting my opinion on the winners.
Dee Bradley Baker - A great VA, but I think I would have gone with People's Choice John DiMaggio. He had a lot of great roles last year.
Kari Wahlgren - Another great choice, but I would have voted for Tara Strong.
Ariel Winter - Great child actress and has had some good roles under her belt, but I would have voted for Alan Tudyk. His King Candy and Green Arrow are awesome.
Sam Witwer - Totally agree. Second for me would probably be Greg Cipes.
Tim Curry - He's great, but would have voted for Jason Marsden in a heartbeat. He brought so much to Impulse that I'm not sure if any other actor would have been right for the role.
Atticus Schaffer - Haven't seen the movie, but I believe he deserved the win.
Michaela Dean - Haven't seen the show, but she sounds pretty good to me. Probably would of voted for Ariel Winter though. The fact she can still do a young girls voice at 15 impresses me.
A 15 year old boy couldn't do that.
Patrick Stewart - FTW!

The only ones that both the People and Staff picked that were the same were Sam Witwer and Patrick Stewart.

*Male Voice Actor of the Year: All of them are fantastic, but I'll be bias and just vote for my personal favorite, Nolan North. :-P

*Female Voice Actor of the Year: I don't have any close & personal favorites out of any of them, and of course, all of them are even more equally fantastic, making this one a much harder choice for me. :'(

Ali Hillis, despite being relatively new to the voice-over industry, especially compared to the others, has already proven herself as a force to be reckoned with. I've always loved Grey DeLisle's work, and just by looking at her BTVA page, you can tell she's really moving up there and still raising the bar even higher, despite all the new competition there is. Of course, we can't forget about the leading woman in video game voice-overs, Jennifer Hale! She has a really great voice, and is always a real treat to listen to.

Kari Wahlgren is a very beautiful young woman, and has a lovely voice to match. Definitely another popular choice. Kate Higgins has had her own fair share of great roles, I'd like to hear even more of her in the future. And as for Tara Strong, she's amazing as always, and she's certainly not stopping at anytime soon.

I haven't forgotten about Hynden Walch, Jessica DiCicco, or especially Tress MacNeille, they're also wonderful actresses, and while they didn't quite stack up to the others this time, I'm sure they'll all make a fierce comeback sooner or later.

All that having been said, my vote in this category goes to Laura Bailey. I think she's the most well-rounded of the bunch, she's done so many different voices, from small boys to young women, a few singing roles, and even the odd creature voice. It's almost unfathomable that they're all coming from the same mouth. Of course, Laura's even got to work in many different kinds of genres and TMGs, from anime to western animation, and all sorts of video games. Overall, I'd say that casting her is a guarantee that you'll find a suitable voice for your project.

*Breakthrough Voice Actor of the Year: I do like what I've heard from David Tennant and Ariel Winter, but for me, it pretty much boils down to the other three. (oh god does that sound terrible... XD )

Given the completely unexpected popularity of Kid Icarus Uprising, Antony Del Rio has gotten off to a great start in his career, and I know the future holds many great things in store for him. His youthfulness and vitality really embodies Pit, and brought a whole new dimension to the game. Janet Varney has had a very similar success story, and of course, we wouldn't even have the Legend of Korra without her. In the end though, having just one main role last year just isn't enough to bring them to the top, but hopefully they'll get to showcase more of their talent in the future.

So, by process of elimination, Alan Tudyk is the winner. I must admit I'm VERY surprised myself, as I'm normally strongly opposed against the practice casting big-name celebrities over VA veterans (I mean, just look at the trailer for the recent Smurfs movie...), but his work is just really impressive. Green Arrow, Gizmo, Officer Elwood, and King Candy? I certainly would've never imagined that they're all done by one person, let alone done so flawlessly. He's also had some other great roles too, it's really quite something!

*Best New Vocal Interpretation of an Established Character: A bit of a tough decision, but I'll go with Christopher B Duncan. He just has...dat voice... Of course, Jamie Marchi, Sam Witwer, and Peter Weller were all very good too.

*Best Vocal Creation of a New Character: This one's even harder, especially considering how they're the "originals" and have no successors to base each other off of. Hynden Walch's Viridi is really cute, yet has this mysterious presence that sends chills down your spine. It's almost creepy. Curtis Armstrong was entertaining to listen to, and it sounds like he was really having fun with the role. I really love Jason Marsden's take on the Bart Allen version of Flash, it actually makes me wish the character would be used in more DC productions in the future. But, everybody did a great job.

*Best Performance in a Narrating Role: I'm actually quite surprised that's Rino Romano, it's not a voice I'd expect to hear from him. As for Tom Kenny, I have to give him mad props for all his dedication to SpongeBob, it feels like that's been going on forever... (when will it end?)

In the end though, I'll have to go with Tom Kane on this one. Granted, he does have the clear advantage of having done the most narration of any VA, as his voice is in literally everything from fast food commercials to Saturday morning cartoons and even documentaries on the History channel. He's essentially the "go-to" guy for a voice that sells anything you'd have to offer. Heck, he's the reason why I sometimes can't flip the channel when National Geographic is on. ^^;

All of that having been said, I haven't picked from either one of the child categories...or at least not yet. I'll have to do more thinking about those for sure!

Male VA: They're all good, but I'm gonna go with Dee Bradley Baker.

Female VA: Grey DeLisle, though a lot of the others are good, too.

Breakthrough VA: Janet Varney, hands down, though David Tennant, Alan Tudyk and Ariel Winter are good, too.

New Vocal Interpretation: Sam Witwer as Maul, though I also liked Carlos Alazraqui as Bane, Christopher B. Duncan as Luke Cage, David Sobolov as Shockwave, Lex Lang as Doctor Doom, and Peter Weller as TDKReturns Batman.

New Character: David Tennant as Huyang, though Jason Marsden was also pretty good as Impulse.

Male Child VA: Andy Pessoa as Raf, though Logan Grove was good as Beast Boy.

Female Child VA: Madeleine Hall as WilyKit.

Narrator: Tom Kane in SW: The Clone Wars.

I chose Kevin Michael Richardson because he was literally everywhere in 2012. Troy Baker may not win this year, but I believe he will be a strong contender for the 2013 awards with a lot of the big roles he's getting. It was a hard choice for me between Grey DeLisle and Kari Wahlgren, but I chose Grey because of her performance as Aya. Greg Cipes in my opinion easily takes best new vocal interpretation of an established character. His Michaelangelo is incredible and one of the highlights of the new TMNT. For the others I voted Alan Tudyk, Jason Marsden, Logan Grove, Claire Corlett, and Tom Kane.

@Carlos1996 While the vote for Troy is no doubt a valid one, his role as Booker is from a 2013 game and thus does not count for this year's awards.
said at 8:39 PM on Fri Apr 26 2013
Troy actually finished recording all his lines before this year, but for unforeseen circumstances, the game's release date was pushed back (at least not as far behind as SC Blacklist, but it's still a long wait).

@pokemastanumba1 For the purposes of the awards, something must have been released in 2012 to be eligible, not just recorded then. It'd make things a bit of a headache if we did things like that, because something could be recorded in 2012 (making it eligible) but not be released until long after the awards have taken place, therefore disqualifying it from ever receiving an award, no matter how good it is.

My votes:

Male: John DiMaggio
Female: Tara Strong
Breakthrough: David Tennant
Established: Greg Cripes
New Character: Tim Curry
Male Child: Logan Grove
Female Child: Claire Corlett as Squeaky Belle..err Sweetie Belle
Narrating: Tom Kenny

Very glad to have voted for Claire Corlett as Sweetie Belle; I always adored Sweetie's voice, especially her adorable squeaks
said at 3:16 PM on Mon Apr 22 2013
My votes are as follows.

Male VA: Kevin M. Richardson
Female VA: Jennifer Hale
Breakthrough: David Tennant
Established Character: Greg Cipes as Mikey
New Character: James Marsden as Impulse
Male Child: Eamon Pirruccello as WilyKat
Female Child: Madeleine Hall as WilyKit
Narrator: Patrick Stewart

Admittedly, I haven't seen much of TMNT '12 or seen Ted, but Cipes fits the role of Mikey so well with his natural surfer-teen voice. And Patrick Stewart is... well, he's Patrick Stewart. 'Nuff said.

Man, this was beyond challenging. Almost everyone had such great talent and was so spot-on with the characters they have voiced, that it was just so hard to choose which one should win.

My votes for Male VA (North) and Female VA (DeLisle) don't seem to being going through.
said at 12:52 PM on Tue Apr 23 2013
@Fulgore2005 Don't worry about it now. Anyways...

New interpretation: Personally, Brad Swaile's Jin Kazama is my favourite in this category. Though I also liked Lex Lang's Doom and Carlos Alazraqui's Bane.

New vocal creation: Could never get enough of Hynden Walch's work on Kid Icarus. So there. Still, David and Jason were also considered.

Narration: I love Rino Romano's work on Curious George. Though Tom Kenny's narration is classic.

Too many great choices. The Best Actress category was heartbreaking, since I could only vote for 1 of literally my top 4 favorite actresses ever. Great lineup this year. My head almost exploded when I saw The Doctor in the lineup (twice!). Love David Tennant. :)

Ariel Winter is a child? Oldest child here, if you ask me.

said at 12:15 AM on Mon Apr 22 2013
@Dogman15 Considering she's under 18, I'd say it's safe to say she's not an adult.
said at 2:03 AM on Mon Apr 22 2013
@NCZ In that case, she's older than she looks. She reminds me of Selena Gomez. But what do I know? I don't really pay a lot of attention to the live-action actor world.
said at 11:20 PM on Sun Apr 21 2013
I'm getting yelled at because I didn't vote for Patrick Stewart for Ted. But I like Tom Kane's voice on The Clone Wars...I just wish they had the narrator for The Legend of Korra!
said at 1:34 AM on Thu Apr 25 2013
@wendysprn I think the narrator for Korra is Shiro Shinobi, an established character, so that's why he wasn't included.
said at 10:49 PM on Sun Apr 21 2013
The first two categories were really hard for me but went with Nolan North and Laura Bailey

Erin Fitzgerald got badly snubbed in the Breakthrough category. :(
OptimusSolo (Admin)
said at 9:43 PM on Sun Apr 21 2013
@RySenkari We can see where you are coming from there but we deemed that she was already too well established as a voice actor to consider her in a 'breakthrough' category.
said at 9:45 PM on Sun Apr 21 2013
@OptimusSolo Ah okay, that explains it then. :)
said at 9:48 PM on Sun Apr 21 2013
@OptimusSolo Then wouldn't you say that she had a good year.

said at 9:49 PM on Sun Apr 21 2013
@Jetman2021 For sure! She had an excellent year!
said at 1:14 PM on Mon Apr 22 2013
@OptimusSolo I probably would've put her over Tress as a nominee in the Female Voice Actress of the year category, either over Tress or over Jessica DiCicco. I mean she wouldn't have won but she deserved to be nominated. :p maybe next year
said at 10:37 PM on Wed Apr 24 2013
@RySenkari Well, she may not win even if she was nominated, but of course, 2012 was a great year for her, and it's nice that she was at least considered. :)
