Ward Perry was a fantastic VA, another of Ocean's finest and more underrated talents.

He had a fantastic deep voice but was versatile enough that he could fit as so many other kinds of characters.

I think my favourite character of his was Ryu Jose in Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. He really made him very likeable and tough. I loved his delivery of "We're Jumping Off Of White Base! AHHHH!" The most.

A close second would be Scavanger in Transformers: Armada. Well mostly at the beginning of the character's role in the series when he was infiltrating the Decepticon ranks as a mercenary. I love how smug he sounded in the role, he really played that role brilliantly. Though I feel once its revealed he's a Autobot all along. I didn't care much for the character afterwards which is a shame. He still did a great job with the role all things considered. His Landmine in Energon was alright but I vastly prefer Paul Dobson in the role.

Ward's work in the Dragon Ball franchise is also excellent. He was fantastic as Kami, King Yemma, Sansho, Dr. Wheelo, Misokatsun and despite my issues with Turles not being voiced by Goku's VA. I thought Ward did a great job with Turles in the edited tv version dub, his uncut dub voice is a bit too raspy and ill-fitting but the death scream he gives in the tv version is well done at least.

Keith Red is a great massive playing against type role, playing a evil smooth businessman, a far cry from his more gruffer types of characters.

I also loved his performances as Hitoshi Demegawa, Gaddes, StoneMan.EXE, DesertMan.EXE, Huitzil and his many roles on InuYasha.

It's a shame Ward has retired from voice acting, he definitely has a voice that I feel is missing from the current Vancouver acting scene.

Still I wish him best of luck in whatever he currently is doing these days.

I wish he was active again as he's honestly one of Vancouver's best.

@Silly Sally I know what you mean. Him, Doug Parker, and Don Brown are all very underrated and need a comeback into voice acting.

@Bauglir100 Don Brown is still around, he does more work over at Blue Water. This is him.

@Nightmare Crusher If Don and Tony are the same person, then why aren't the articles merged?

@Bauglir100 Because it takes a while to move all of the credits.

@Nightmare Crusher I'd say it takes a while to do ANYTHING on this site. If only they'd allow more people to edit stuff.

@NCZ I'm just saying that this site has a LOT to cover, but only a few people to do it all. We all have own our lives to tend to, but that's all the more reason why the site ought to widen its editing privileges a bit.

@Bauglir100 Although there is an unimaginable amount of content out there to document and only a limited number of mods and admins, there *is* also the problem of having too many cooks in the kitchen. It's a double-edged sword.

Accidentally shouted you out, I do not agree with this at all.

@Music Meister

Look, I'm not saying "Go all Wikipedia on this site". I just think that the site could bring in some more people to edit/update stuff instead of having five people be active at any given time for a site that spans over hundreds of shows, movies, voice actors, etc.

The problem isn't that there would be "too many cooks". It seems more like we've got a tiny handful of cooks to feed an entire metropolis in the first place.

Really, why would you disagree with this? Are you guys greedy or something?

And for the record: I'm really, REALLY sorry if I came off as harsh or blunt in the last comment, but I just don't understand why a little help can't be given to the site.

Anyway, this conversation is about Ward Perry, Don Brown, etc., not the site's technical problems. So let's go back to what was said before, shall we?

Is he retired from voice acting now and why?

@VoteForSirAtlas I'd very much like to know where Ward has vanished too. It seems he's kind of gone under the radar around the late 2000's.
said at 12:40 PM on Fri Nov 7 2014
@VoteForSirAtlas Of course not, if it's personal business it wouldn't seem in any way at all polite.

@VoteForSirAtlas He's still alive, I asked Brian Drummond. He said Ward is still active just not as much in voice acting anymore and is probably involved in other creative pursuits. Same for Don Brown.

@munsonx4 Good to hear that he's alive and still active in acting (albeit reduced to commercials and other stuff since the anime recession). Hopefully when the demand for more Vancouver dubs once the Vancouver dubbing scene goes back to normal, we could see him become fully active again. In the mean time, we'll have Paul Dobson take over whatever roles he may get.

@Domayv If not, there's always the chance of getting a role in FiM, right?

He was great as Sounga and Gora in InuYasha. He's got a good range to be able to use the voice Dodoria has in the Ocean dub. Its a shame he hasn't been in too much other stuff lately...

@Redeye64 That was actually Paul Dobson. I used to think it was Ward because I thought he was Kid buu. But turns out that was Brian Dobson according to Brian Drummond. I can also hear Zarbon's transformed voice from when he fights Vegeta again in Dodoria's voice.
