 3 Shout Outs!
Tracey Rooney's voice was a really nice fit for Chie imo. Her voice has a really pleasant and lovely sound with a soothing tone to it, mixed with a nice tomboy rasp that really suits Chie's tomboyish personality quite well, and in general her performance did quite well at conveying Chie's inwardly tough, somewhat masculine-oriented character as well as her awkward, unsure-of-herself side. Tracey's presence in P4 also brought some nice variation to JRPG dubs, since she came into this gig with no known dub presence beforehand, especially since many dubs nowadays use a fairly standard pool of talent.

However, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks her acting could've been better. Particularly early on, she had a tendency to stutter on her lines and was kind of flat, and she had difficulty effectively conveying lines that were supposed to invoke strong emotion, as well as some problems with emphasis. To her credit however, she did get better as the game went on and by the early/mid game point, she was evidently much more comfortable with the role and her performance ended up being pretty darn solid in the end.

In all fairness though, P4 was one of Tracey's first voice acting roles, so the stammers and technical shortcomings in her acting are to be expected, and nonetheless, for a newcomer, she did quite an impressive job. Voice acting is hard to do well and takes a lot of experience and refinement to truly master it from a technical standpoint, but Tracey managed to convey Chie surprisingly naturally and effectively, getting emotion and expression down quite nicely with subtlety and nuance to her performance as well.

It's a bit of a shame that she hasn't been in much else, and moreso that she never reprised Chie, since as much as I also love Erin Fitzgerald in the role, it would've been interesting to see what Tracey could've done if she played Chie again in one of the later stuff, and how much she could've improved. But nonetheless, she was a very interesting presence in the original Persona 4's dub and brought some much needed variation to dubs in general, and her take on Chie's character was quite interesting and likeable to listen to and suited the very down-to-earth feel that embodied the original Persona 4.

@ScraftyIsTheBest I agree with pretty much everything here honestly. She did VERY well for one of her first voice acting roles, and she had some pretty nice chemistry with Lowenthal's Yosuke as well!

It kinda reminds me of Julianne Alexander's Felicia actually, where she gives the character a voice that still manages to convey her personality without needing to "sound like the JP voice" (and it was also another impressive first voice acting role!) and she got to come back to even polish her take as well. Which honestly is a damn shame that Tracey never got the opportunity to do that herself.

I still have a preference for Erin Fitzgerald's Chie mind you, but I have grown to appreciate Tracey's take on the character a lot more over the years however.

@Gekko_Amario Yeah, not gonna lie for me, she hasn't explored more into her character making her not really energetic, so yeah.
