So...I just found out what happened today. And honestly? I'm glad this guy isn't directing the Pokemon dub anymore. What he did was wrong, and they had every right to replace him.

@Soul-dragon What did he do? Curious (I'm lazy to do research :P)

A woman who worked with him at a convention (as his handler? manager? whatever the word is) said that he raped her.

Anyone know the status of his court case?

@MadAnimationFan I was wondering the same since he's getting work again and is active on Twitter now.

I'm a bit confused about Tom. I know about the accusations, but did they turn out to be true?

when i went to a convation tom was there and he said he is finnaly out of court and is getting people to trust him agian.

@Lps and pokemon fan A headline like that would probably burn any professional bridges, regardless if true or not.

@Ghosty404 Unless they want him to work on hentai dubs again.

Why do so many people hate this guy?

@Joel the Pokekid

A staff member/volunteer at Anime Boston came out last year and testified that Tom Wayland raped her at the previous year's event. The police got involved as did Anime Boston and some other anime conventions. Since then Wayland has vanished from social media, not done any voicework, and has been replaced as VD on Pokemon.

Put it all together and that's why.

@Joel the Pokekid I hope the victim is okay if the accusations are true, too.

@Joel the Pokekid That's not all, he also has been antagonistic towards fans of when 4Kids dubbed the anime.

@Joel the Pokekid

Saw a youtube video where a fan complained about a past con experience that Wayland won't tell (or "forgets" to tell) fans he was part of the infamous 4Kids One Piece dub as he signs his autograph on their One Piece DVDs with the Funimation dub.

There are worse reasons to not like the guy as many have already mentioned, but this is kind of a pretty sketchy thing to do...

Tom Wayland has also said regarding his handling of TPCi's Pokemon dub from 2008 to 2014 that, "I don't care how I handle the dub, I'll replace all the music I want, screw up the dialogue, change lines, etc. All I care about is the fact that the show continues to get good ratings," as well.

While I feel nothing has changed about the Pokemon dub since he left at all, to be honest, Wayland (and DuArt) undoubtedly started this downward trend with it going down a path of not caring about quality, and only about popularity.

@WrightWay Proof?

Skip to 2:50 of this video for that portion, earlier for what Omar_Lopez mentions:
said at 3:06 PM on Sat Nov 26 2016
@WrightWay I'm not seeing any proof (I watched 2:50 to 3:31), I'm just hearing the audio of a guy who clearly has an axe to grind. Are there any clips straight from Walyand's mouth, or an official interview?
said at 5:16 PM on Sat Nov 26 2016
Well, there is Mr. Wayland kind of being rude to this guy at another convention he was at in person, if it helps (, it's somewhere at the beginning of the video where he says, "Are you gonna answer how I got into this for me?"), though this guy's rant I linked was done after he met him at a Midwest Media Expo Con- shame he didn't record it, though.

However, after his...well, you know, allegations...I'm honestly inclined to believe the guy who was ranting on the subject, myself.

@FMAlchemistfan01 He was accused of an extremely serious crime early this year and since then has not done any new work, been replaced as director on Pokemon, and vanished from social media.

@NCZ Then why did he got cast as Mash on Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 9:24 AM on Tue Nov 17 2015
@dcmarvelanime I'm not an expert on that. Probably recorded before the situation got out.
said at 11:19 PM on Sat Nov 28 2015
@NCZ @dcmarvelanime Gundam The Origin is dubbed during production at the same time as the Japanese audio, before the animation is even completed. Though I doubt he would've been in episode 2 if this situation happened in March/April or so.

And just from watching episode 2 it seems like Mash has a different voice than he did in episode 1, which came out in February and would've been dubbed much earlier than that. He only has a couple of yelling lines in the first place, but it's enough of a difference.
said at 11:22 PM on Sat Nov 28 2015
@Stelman257 Ah never mind that, it was him in episode 2. Then yes, I suppose it must've been produced before the news got out.

Or hell, maybe something else has happened behind the scenes. Who knows.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 11:40 PM on Sat Nov 28 2015
@Stelman257 It was in February that the victim went public with her allegation, just about 10 days before the first episode was released. So it was probably just that it was too late to change anything.

@Jacob M. Keene Without commenting on this situation specifically, I should warn you that a big part of why many predators in the entertainment industry manage to get away with this sort of crime, or why their victims are often dismissed, is because people choose not to believe their victims solely because they like the accused's work.
