Is it just me or does anyone else, when read anything about Tim Curry, start reading in his voice in their head?...

Anyway.... I was gutted when I heard Tim had a stroke but thrilled he'd started doing voice acting again.

His voice is so unique and enjoyed his character in The Rocky Horror Show.

Happy Birthday to my all-time favorite British actor!
When it comes to Tim Curry, it's just not possible to hate his acting. He always gets into the role with such passion that it makes him so enjoyable in an entertainingly over-the-top manner!
I'd say my top favorite performances of his would include Sir Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys) and Pennywise (IT).

Happy Birthday, Mr. Curry! :)

Whilst I have not played Brutal Legend, listening to his voice for Doviculus makes me want to hear him voice Unicron.

@HK-47 master I'd more picture him as Galvatron, but I suppose that works too.

Another post stroke interview with him during the Rocky Horror Picture Reunion!

Seems like he's making great progress. It sounds like he can speak more clearly.

There's an interview with him post-stroke as well!

I have to admit, for someone who had a stroke he can speak pretty darn clearly. Depending on how fast he recovers we may not see him in much live action stuff, but at least he'll still be capable of some voicework.

@LordofEvil96 He sounds pretty good. Not sure if he can say much at a time given his answers, but his voice is still good considering what happened to him.

He doesn't look so hot (neither would I after having a stroke), but hey, at least he's out-and-about!

I find it wonderful that the two greatest masters of animated villainy (Hans Conried and Tim Curry) were born in the same week.

And they're both known for voicing Captain Hook!

Happy Birthday Tim Curry!

Seriously how can you not love this guy? He simply is smashing!

Ever since he played Dr. Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, he has graced the screen whether it'd be live action or voice wise, if it's good or bad. He just has the charisma to make almost anything he's in entertaining and worth the watch.

Voice Wise my favourite role would have to be Nigel Thornberry one of his few massive playing against type roles....mostly because he so SMASHING! By far the best character on The Wild Thornberries. I also really love his performances as Hexxus, Dr. Morocco, Doctor Anton Sevarius, Professor Finbarr Calamitous, Captain Hook, G. Gordon Godfrey, Emperor Palpatine, The Sorcerer, Auntie Whispers, Joseph Chadwick and Doviculus.

I'm glad he's doing well after he had his stroke, it sucks that so many of his ongoing roles got recast and despite their best efforts, they just couldn't capture the magic that is "Curry-ness".

I look forward to whatever future projects he has lined up.

He was also great as Taurus Bulba on Darkwing Duck, Dale "The Whale" Biederbeck on Monk, Billy Flynn/The Prince of Darkness on Criminal Minds and Mr. Hector in Home Alone 2.

Hopefully he gets back to acting at some point. Lately he's been eerily inactive as far as acting/voice-over work goes. I know he had a stroke last year but I find it sort of unusual that we haven't heard any updates about it.

I voted for Hexxus as my favorite role, but only because Long John Silver from Muppet Treasure Island wasn't on the list.

Tim Curry needs to play more pirates.

@RenoRebirth Yes, I believe he was cast, but for some reason he had to drop out.
said at 9:00 AM on Wed Jun 4 2014
@Polyester Funk Well I was watching a panel with Mark Hamill, and he said that the original voice of Joker was Captain Hook in the Peter Pan TV show. Which is what led me here.
He said that the studio didn't want voices that sounded too similar/recognizable compared to another famous cartoon villain, so they had to find somebody else.

said at 11:54 PM on Wed Jun 4 2014
@RenoRebirth OK. I don't know that I've ever heard the actual reason why Tim wasn't Joker. I read somewhere that he sounded "too scary".

... Not to mention that he is a unique and wonderful singer! He made three albums in the late '70s/early '80s, and -except for minor successes of a single or two- his music career never really "blossomed." Thank goodness for the internet and YouTube, which have posted many of these gems in the last few years. The man and his voice are truly treasures!

Here's to you. :)
