Happy Birthday Richard Newman!

He has an excellent voice for over the top villains to commanding authority figures and even old characters.

His roles in the Transformers franchise are among my favourites of his. Rhinox is easily my favourite character of his, Rhinox is just a well rounded character he's intelligent, strong, a dependable friend and can even make for a scary villain when necessary. Vector Prime is a close second, I felt he poured his soul in this wise ancient guardian of time and space especially in the episode Guardian when Vector Prime makes his ultimate sacrifice. His Megatron in Energon was really good too, He actually does a nearly spot on impression of David Kaye's Megatron. It's a shame he didn't fill in as Megatron again in Cybertron when Kaye was once again unavailable but I understand why since in that episode Megatron shares a major important scene with Vector Prime, so it would have been really awkward with them having such similar voices. If Vancouver ever gets to do Transformers again and David Kaye can't reprise Megatron even from LA, I would welcome Richard as the voice of Megatron for that Transformers series.

His M. Bison in the Street Fighter cartoon is really iconic as well. Especially for how he became a internet meme in recent years, despite that I feel Richard pulls this character off the best, yes even better than Tom Wyner and especially more than Gerald C. Rivers.

I also loved his performances as Captain Ginyu, Porunga, Oolong, Totosai, Emperor Dornkirk, Juzo Shingu, Maysa/Captain Beef, Admiral Duane Halberton, Massoud Rachmadi, Rachmann, Zekkai, Principal Bill McCammon, J. Jonah Jameson and Cranky Doodle Donkey.

Does anyone else think he would be a great fit for Isaac Netero? If Ocean dubs Hunter X Hunter 2011, he's my personal pick for the part. :)

@Nightmare Crusher That's really sad. I really hope they keep the house, because from what I've read, it has a great sentimental value.

Best of luck to Richard and his family on these tough times.

@Nightmare Crusher I just might give some to this pretty soon. EqD posted about it, too.

In some way that explains why Richard hasn't done that much in recent years, a man of his talent deserves more voice work.

@Skullgrin140 well he appeared in a recent episode of Supernatural as Oliver Pryce.

Here's his picture: http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/images/b/bd/OliverPryce.png

@tmnisaac I saw Richard once as Shylock in the 2011 Merchant of Venice play at the Bard on the Beach festival. So he has mostly been active on stage, but not too much on TV or voiceovers.

On screen wise it's nice to see Richard do an on screen appearance for a chance, any ocean actor make an appearance in front of the camera is nice to see that these guys are still doing some form of work.
