What's your favorite VO role by Nolan North? Mine's is Deadpool. :-)

@TheVengeanceKnight Doctor N. Gin was the first voice role of his I ever heard (granted it was pretty early on in his voice-acting career), and because it entertained me so well, that'll be the role I always readily associate with him.
As a matter of fact, every time I read his name I subconsciously hear it the way N. Gin says it in the CTTR credits, plus the tangent he goes on afterward: "Nolan North as N. Gin. Wait... that's me. And him is me and me is him. I'M SO CONFUSED!! HE'S AN IDIOT!! Wait, that means I'm an idiot... Cut!"
If I had to pick a runner-up, the defective cores and turrets from Portal 2 were pretty memorable :)

@TheVengeanceKnight I'm a huge fan of his (not like that's already obvious :-P ), and I love his voice-over work in general, but my favorites would have to be:
#1 Nathan Drake, obviously (Uncharted series)
#2 Martin Walker (Spec Ops: The Line)
#3 Steven Heck (Alpha Protocol)
#4 Vashyron (Resonance of Fate)
#5 Romeo (Halo 3: ODST)

@TheVengeanceKnight The most obvious choice for me would be Nathan Drake, he brought that character to life in a crazy way. Next to that I would say Deadpool, it's amazing that the same guy could play two very different characters. Nolan is talented as all hell.
Replysaid at 11:04 AM on Sun Jun 2 2013
@TheVengeanceKnight I guess I'll have to be the third to say Nathan Drake. That series was crazy awesome cinematic and Nolan North had every single ounce of charisma of a lovable action hero and more. Deadpool is a great performance too and it's gotten better and better with time.

@Evil Cheese Wedge Anime-dubbing is the only major field of acting he doesn't do any work in. It requires a different kind of voice-over experience, which he doesn't have, and more importantly, he's most likely WAY out-of-budget. Given how prominent he is in acting (both voice-over and live-action), as well as how conservative and small-paying anime-dubbing is, it'd have been too much time, money, and effort to bring him back.
Replysaid at 11:53 PM on Tue Sep 4 2012
It is amazing how many different voices he can do, but he's at his best playing snarky smart asses and flamboyant villains.

Man, this guy's got range! I'd have never guessed that Drake, Cyclops, Deadpool, Brawl, and Penguin were all one dude.

Also, slightly more on topic, ;) I can't believe that was *him* on CSI: Miami! I remember watching that episode a while back, but at the time I had no idea how Nolan North was.

@TylerMirage That's cool. Ever since Port Charles got the boot, he hasn't done much on-camera work, but I do see him on the big screen now and then.
Way to go Nolan for live-action roles!

@pokemastanumba1 Yeah, it's always cool to see VAs like Nolan, Garry Chalk, KMR, Richard Epcar, Mark Hamill - and even Tim Curry, Diedrich Bader and Brad Garrett - who are not only prolific VAs, but also have some great on-screen work as well. Show's all of their true talent.
Replysaid at 8:41 PM on Wed Aug 15 2012
@TylerMirage The latter three you mentioned are actually much more prominent in live-action than voice-over (Brad even starred in his own series "I Kid with Brad Garrett" after nine seasons of playing one of the leads in "Everybody Loves Raymond" ! ).
Though I would like to see Nolan do a bit more on camera. Honestly, I can't understand why Hollywood would choose anyone OTHER than him to play the live-action Drake in the Uncharted movie!!!

@pokemastanumba1 Yeah, I know they're more prominent in live-action, but when you factor in the basic 50/50 split of prolific live-action AND voice-acting, it's quite the combo. The other VAs I mentioned have a bit more uneven (not in a bad way) split of live-action to voice-acting. Say, 25/75 or 10/90 kind of numbers. :)
North as a live-action Drake? That'd be awesome. Though knowing Hollywood, they'd more than likely go for a more "household name" actor who can bring in the bucks with their name. :( You know, Tom Cruise, Chris Evans and whatnot.

@TylerMirage & TheVengeanceKnight I just don't understand why Hollywood insists on casting celebrities who have little to no experience in voice acting for lead roles. It's really sickening, not to mention disheartening. I mean, there have been many successful theatre productions that didn't use a single celebrity!
I really can't see anyone else as Drake. I mean, Nolan obviously has the voice, on-camera experience (such as on the aforementioned CSI episode) and background knowledge of the Uncharted franchise. Heck, Nolan even LOOKS like Drake! If Hollywood doesn't cast him, then they clearly wouldn't know what they're doing.

@TylerMirage Prime is supposed to be in the same universe as WFC, so I think it'd be cool if he got to reprise Brawl or Bruticus.
Replysaid at 2:10 PM on Fri Jun 29 2012
@NCZ Yeah... I don't really put much faith in what Hasbro claims to be in-universe or canon with each other, ha ha. ;) Don't get me wrong, him voicing Brawl or Bruticus would be sweet. Personally, I'd like to hear his take on Shockwave.
Replysaid at 2:06 AM on Sat Jun 30 2012
@TylerMirage I actually love that the new games, the novels and Prime are all in the same universe - think it works out really well. What are your issues with it out of curiosity?
Replysaid at 5:37 PM on Wed Jul 4 2012
@OptimusSolo Pretty much any legitimate problem raised in this thread.
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-prime-discussion/614971-why-do-you-not-want-wfc-foc-part-prime.html
Some things match, some things don't. Even the fandom is divided as to whether or not they are/should be connected. They're not really "issues" as in "I'm super angry and completely apposed to the idea", they're moreso "issues" as in "there's little things that don't really add up".
People sometimes use the "they have same VAs so they're in the same universe"-argument. But then I point out Megatron, Arcee, Starscream, Cliffjumper. But the voices aren't that big of a deal, I admit that. Virtually no bearing on whether or not something is in continuity with another. Sometimes characters are completely different or serve different roles/functions; Arcee, Soundwave, Breakdown. Or for the example of TFP and RB: Optimus will apparently completely change his design in order to travel to the Rescue Bots gang. O.o (Yes, I realize that that has to do more with the overall aesthetic of the show, but still. If they want them to be in the same continuity, certain things *do* have to jive.)
So don't get me wrong. I'm not opposed to the idea. I don't think there's anything *wrong* with it. If TFP directly mentions events in WFC/FOC, then that's fine. I'd LOVE to see a Rescue Bots/TFP crossover. But until I see TFP Ratchet snarking it up with RB Heatwave, or RB Optimus say to Chief Burns "I have a team of Autobots in Jasper Nevada", it's really no more than empty words about them being in the same universe.

@TylerMirage I don't necessarily agree or buy into the stretch of having Rescue Bots as part of it - but I haven't seen very many legit contradictions between TF Prime, the novels and the video games (the original things that were supposed to be of the same universe)
Replysaid at 11:58 PM on Thu Jul 5 2012
@OptimusSolo Yeah, as I said, I'm not against the idea. It's just one of those things where there definitely is evidence to support both cases. If you want them connected, then it will be. If you don't, then it won't. :)
Usually what gets me is the claims (not calling on you, NCZ) of things like "Troy Baker would probably voice Jazz in TFP because he voiced him in WFC/FOC", "Nolan North should voice Brawl in TFP because he voiced him in the game!" (using those as 'evidence' for linking them together) or "Sentinel Prime can't appear in TFP because Sentinel Prime died in WFC" or whatever. Being a VA for a character in one doesn't automatically mean they'd reprise the character in TFP. Or certain events/traits/situations in WFC/FOC don't automatically dictate what happens in TFP. I'm addressing crazy people on TFW2005 on that topic moreso than addressing VA fans or you guys. And that's basically where any potential animosity from me comes from, is people using crazy things to try and link them together.
As for RB, Bumblebee is set to appear in this coming episode, and he's apparently *supposed* to be the TFP version (or at least super dooper close to him). I'm curious to see how he turns out.
