Happy Birthday Michael Dobson!

The range that Michael Dobson has is just unbelievable. He is one of the few voice actors who can not only do deep tough guy voices and but also do high pitch or raspy sounding voices. Usually most VAs who are of one voice type and tend to stick to doing just that but Michael, he can do all kinds of voices and perform them brilliantly.

Starscream is without a doubt my favourite role of his. The Unicron Trilogy for all of its flaws, always had Starscream as one of its shining stars despite the derailment that kind of went on in Energon, I always thought Michael showed off his emotional range that he could bring playing him as a tragic honourbound yet unsure warrior in Armada, an aloof ghost in Energon and in Cybertron, a magnificent bastard Starscream, one of the few successful Starscreams. While Steve Blum is my personal favourite as Starscream, Michael is a really close second for me.

I also loved his other performances as Nappa, Sergei Smirnov, Hulk, The Leader, Ronan the Accuser, Caliban, Blob, Ghost, Jinenji, Hoshiyomi, Saya, Magatsuhi, Gelus, Armonia Justin Beyondormason, Dantalion, Dryden Fassa, Spielberger, Magnet Man.EXE, White Knight, Kopaka, Cobra Commander, Colonel Franklin, Forge Ferrus, Bulk Biceps, Dr. Caballeron, Jeffrey The Dude Letrotski and his roles in the motion comic Batman Black and White. Like his Batman is very underrated, his Alfred is quite good, His Starscream voice kind of works for Joker but the best performance he gave in that comic was as Thomas Wayne, so warm, fatherly and passionate, its wonderful. I seriously hope if Ocean or Voicebox gets to do another Batman series, Michael reprises Batman I think he shows great potential as the Caped Crusader.

Wow. He has fewer roles than Scott McNeil and Steve Blum yet he's on the same league as them both.

@TylerMirage I think that was his way of saying he wants him in more roles.

@TylerMirage Well Frank Welker, Mel Blanc (R.I.P), Dee Bradley Baker, Jeff Bennett, Rob Paulsen, and so on have a huge number of roles, so I guess Mike should have been in more childhoods.

Possibly the only person (as of this comment) to have voiced both Batman and Joker in one show.

Has a lot of good roles that it's hard to pick. But then again, it's hard to pick with every voice actor.

He was great in Transformers Armada but he was way too crazy sounding as Cobra Commander.

Happy birthday, Mike.

Excellent Nappa. Intimidating voice for a dangerously strong Saiyan.
