Happy birthday, Marc Diraison.

It's wonderful that he got involved in LA's dubbing scene in 2013. It allowed to be in both SAO and Fate/Zero, which he did great on. It also allowed him to be in the likes of JJBA and Magi.

He was great during his time in NY as well. He was and still is part of the great Berserk cast. And he's also a favourite in the 4kids dub of One Piece.

Personally, I think that (besides Martin Billany) he would be a great Miles Edgeworth.

Happy Birthday Marc Diraison.

Even though he's been active for more than a decade, he truly starts to shine after moving to LA, where he gets some much more needed roles that he deserves. That's not to say he's without some noteworthy performances during his career in NYC. His Roroana Zolo in the 4Kids dub of One Piece was definitley one of the few redeeming qualities of an otherwise terrible dub. But his most notable performance from his career in NYC, and perhaps of his career in general, is Guts from Berserk. Even if the original Berserk dub isn't exactly FLCL or Black Lagoon or Hellsing series or Cowboy Bebop levels of stellar, his Guts became one of the best castings in anime dub history and truly one of the standout performances of the dub. There's barely any other anime dub VA who could replicate his legendary performance as him. He was made for Marc to voice.

I was very glad that Viz outsourced the movies back to the orininal cast and NYAV helped make the cast deliver a truly awesome performance. Here's hoping that if someone gets the new series, they reprise the cast to dub.

Other noteworthy NYC voices include Raptarr, Silver Sentry, Meran, and Toshiyuki Aoshima.

In LA, he's got some noteworthy performances too, including Akihiko Kayaba (I was baffled when it was revealed it waarc who voiced the character since I though it was Crispin Freeman voicing him), Tokiomi Tohsaka (what good way to start his career in a city that he has relocated to is appearing in an all star dub cast), George Joestar, Kugel, and Cassim's Father.

He manages to combine both badassery and raw, genuine emotion with his characters, making his performances as them feel very organic and giving these characters souls, and rarely do they ever sound forced or mechanical.

In addition, he makes some of the funniest outtakes ever, such as his outtakes in Bersek, and can also deliver comedic roles just as good as his serious roles.

That being said, I can honestly consider him the LA anime dub equivalent of David Kaye (with Benjamin Diskin being the Paul Dobson, Michael McConnohie being the Richard Newman and Dale Wilson, and Steve Blum being the Scott McNeil and Brian Drummond) since many of Kaye's characters, particularly his anime dub voices, would very likely be voiced by Marc if they were dubbed in LA today. Heck, if the Unicron Trilogy ever got an LA dub today, I could see him make an awesome Megatron.

While I'm hoping for Ocean to dub Hunter X Hunter 2011, I do think that Marc would be a great casting choice for Ging Freecss.

@SteelEthlan nah, Blue Water already did the first series and it bombed. whoever gets the new one will likely use a new cast entirely.

@PsychicVoiceSpy Marc's an LA/NY actor, and Ocean's located in Vancouver, lest they make this dub a hybrid LA-Vancouver dub (whilst there are some LA productions that did use Vancouver-based actors, such as Street Fighter X Tekken, they only used one or two and that was it. Making a dub cast that uses LA for one half and Vancouver for the other half of the cast would be extremely complicated due to having to sign contracts with both the UBCP and the SAG-AFTRA)

@Domayv I wasn't saying that I literally wanted an LA-Vancouver hybrid dub just so Marc could be Ging while still having a Vancouver cast. I'm not that ignorant. I was merely saying that I thought he'd be a great fit for the character while making it clear that I'm more in support of Ocean dubbing HxH.

@PsychicVoiceSpy I doubt it could match his Oscar Worthy Guts, but he does sound a lot like Kevin Conroy but somewhaf younger. If he was Batman in Arkham Origins, it would've been awesome! But RCS was good too.

@BioZero216 OH My God...Dude Yes.

Though I also want to see Kevin T. Collins voice Batman as well. :p

But Seriously Diraison would own as Batman, I hope Andrea Romano discovers him soon.

Happy birthday, Marc Diraison! Guts was all it took to make him one of my favorite VA's of all time, and he's excellent in everything else I've heard him in since then. He's the perfect voice for bad@$$ characters and he can make them sound VERY imposing, but he also puts tons of raw emotion into his roles as well.

He's also incredibly funny, giving great comedic delivery when it's called for and his outtakes from Berserk are absolutely hysterical! I hope to see him in a LOT more things now that he's in LA.

Happy Birthday Marc Diraison.

You absolutely slayed it as Guts in Berserk. Nobody could have played that role as well as he did. It's easily one of the greatest castings ever in anime dub history.

I also like his voice for Tokiomi Tohsaka in Fate/Zero and his Zoro/Zolo in the 4Kids dub of One Piece was definitely the shining light in that travesty of a dub, if only he could have voiced him in an uncut dub of One Piece.

I'm glad you moved to LA, now you can get more roles as you rightfully deserve.

In addition to his phenomenal performance as Guts and other characters like Tokiomi Tohsaka and Zoro.....

I've also loved his performances as Silver Sentry, Raptarr, Solomon Muto (Young). Riley, Tyson, Ithnan, Cassim's Father, George Joestar and Sweeper.

But despite all that Guts will always be my all-time favourite role, character and performance of his. I'm really hoping with the new Berserk TV anime coming this year we'll get a broadcast dub out of that with Marc reprising Guts. I couldn't imagine Guts sounding any other way in English.

anyways Happy Birthday Marc Diraison!

Is it just me, or does his performances as guts and a few others sound like Crispin Freeman? They both share the same viciousness.

Marc was a great Zoro in One Piece, even though it was a bad production overall, I thought his voice really stood out, and suited the character nicely. In some aspects, I like him better than Christopher Sabat. Many of his other voice acting roles have been great too!

If VIZ Media doesn't reunite the original dub cast (especially Marc) I refuse to buy the movies!

If VIZ does use an L.A. cast (hope they don't) I doubt they'll be as good as the New York cast.

Plus I heard Michael Sinterniklaas (who directed the TV series dub) knows the Berserk universe like the back of his hand.

If VIZ hires someone else to direct I doubt they'll do as good a job.

The Berserk dub is arguably the best dub the New York talent pool has ever worked on.

The original Pokemon cast was awesome but the show itself had some minor edits/censorship.

Berserk dub was uncut, unedited and just amazing!
