2 Days late, but Happy Birthday Marc Diraison!!

Even though I haven't listened to much of his work, I did enjoyed his performances as Riley in "Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl", Tokiomi Tohsaka in "Fate/Zero", Ruin in "The Seven Deadly Sins", and Bearded Worker in "One-Punch Man".

It was also very exciting to hear Marc as Ging in the latest episode of "Hunter x Hunter", I sure bet that most of you saw it coming for Marc Diraison being cast as Ging, so big props to the vast majority who got it right!!

Day late, but happy birthday! Love what you've done and excited for what other projects are ahead. Excited to hear more of you as Ging in Hunter x Hunter, and hopefully we get to hear the dub of Berserk season 2 soon.

Happy Birthday, Marc Diraison!

Even though Marc may not be the most well known NY voice actor, you have to admit, he has a pretty epic and commanding voice in his roles. I think his performance as "Zolo" (Zoro) was the sole redeeming factor of the otherwise terrible 4Kids dub of One Piece: in terms of the main cast's acting, he really stood out among the performers there as trying to make the best of a bad situation, and I also really liked his performance as Tyson in Pokemon...but my favorite role of his is DEFINITELY Guts, he's perfect in that part, IMO!

Happy Birthday, Marc Diraison! I've always felt as if his portrayal as Roronoa Zoro (I'm sorry, "Zolo") was one of the better performances in One Piece's much-reviled 4Kids dub. That being said, the man is of course stellar as Guts and other favorite Diraison roles include Bearded Worker, Riley, Akihiko Kayaba, Solomon Muto (Young), Kalin Kessler, and Silver Sentry.

Happy Birthday Marc Diraison!

My top 10 favourite roles from him are:

1.) Guts (Berserk)
2.) Tokiomi Tohsaka (Fate/Zero)
3.) Riley (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl)
4.) Silver Sentry (TMNT)
5.) Zeon Zum Deikun (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin)
6.) Ithnan (Magi)
7.) George Joestar (Jojo's Bizzare Adventures)
8.) Solomon Muto (Young) (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
9.) Ruin (The Seven Deadly Sins)
10.) Bearded Worker (One Punch Man)

Seriously I wished Marc Diraison would get cast in much meatier parts, even still being in LA, it's always minor characters or dry characters.

I'm sure he'll be back as Guts for the new Berserk anime dub but seriously they really need to utilize Marc way more.

I hope NYAV Post will dub the new Berserk, with Marc as Guts, of course.

He's a great voice actor, I actually liked his Zoro/Zolo better than Chris Sabat's.

And I was quite surprised when I heard him as Kalin in Yugioh 5D's, I had no idea he could get his voice that high, along with the psycho laugh.

He really gives all his characters depth with his voice. Loved him in Zetman and Sword Art Online too. Glad he's in LA now, getting some good voice work, he deserves it!

@Dragon Warrior

I think there's a good chance Crunchyroll keeps NYAV Post to do the dub. I think I read on twitter Michael Sinterniklaas even asking who does he have to contact to make sure it happens.

Some fans have even suggested to have Cam Clarke reprise Puck from that old video game. He has anime dubbing experience and while I don't know if they alias is officially confirmed some say he did some voices in the Zetman dub (which was done by NYAV Post) so who knows, it could happen.

Happy birthday, Marc Diraison.

It's wonderful that he got involved in LA's dubbing scene in 2013. It allowed to be in both SAO and Fate/Zero, which he did great on. It also allowed him to be in the likes of JJBA and Magi.

He was great during his time in NY as well. He was and still is part of the great Berserk cast. And he's also a favourite in the 4kids dub of One Piece.

Personally, I think that (besides Martin Billany) he would be a great Miles Edgeworth.

Happy Birthday Marc Diraison.

Even though he's been active for more than a decade, he truly starts to shine after moving to LA, where he gets some much more needed roles that he deserves. That's not to say he's without some noteworthy performances during his career in NYC. His Roroana Zolo in the 4Kids dub of One Piece was definitley one of the few redeeming qualities of an otherwise terrible dub. But his most notable performance from his career in NYC, and perhaps of his career in general, is Guts from Berserk. Even if the original Berserk dub isn't exactly FLCL or Black Lagoon or Hellsing series or Cowboy Bebop levels of stellar, his Guts became one of the best castings in anime dub history and truly one of the standout performances of the dub. There's barely any other anime dub VA who could replicate his legendary performance as him. He was made for Marc to voice.

I was very glad that Viz outsourced the movies back to the orininal cast and NYAV helped make the cast deliver a truly awesome performance. Here's hoping that if someone gets the new series, they reprise the cast to dub.

Other noteworthy NYC voices include Raptarr, Silver Sentry, Meran, and Toshiyuki Aoshima.

In LA, he's got some noteworthy performances too, including Akihiko Kayaba (I was baffled when it was revealed it waarc who voiced the character since I though it was Crispin Freeman voicing him), Tokiomi Tohsaka (what good way to start his career in a city that he has relocated to is appearing in an all star dub cast), George Joestar, Kugel, and Cassim's Father.

He manages to combine both badassery and raw, genuine emotion with his characters, making his performances as them feel very organic and giving these characters souls, and rarely do they ever sound forced or mechanical.

In addition, he makes some of the funniest outtakes ever, such as his outtakes in Bersek, and can also deliver comedic roles just as good as his serious roles.

That being said, I can honestly consider him the LA anime dub equivalent of David Kaye (with Benjamin Diskin being the Paul Dobson, Michael McConnohie being the Richard Newman and Dale Wilson, and Steve Blum being the Scott McNeil and Brian Drummond) since many of Kaye's characters, particularly his anime dub voices, would very likely be voiced by Marc if they were dubbed in LA today. Heck, if the Unicron Trilogy ever got an LA dub today, I could see him make an awesome Megatron.

@SteelEthlan nah, Blue Water already did the first series and it bombed. whoever gets the new one will likely use a new cast entirely.
said at 7:11 PM on Sat Sep 12 2015
@PsychicVoiceSpy Marc's an LA/NY actor, and Ocean's located in Vancouver, lest they make this dub a hybrid LA-Vancouver dub (whilst there are some LA productions that did use Vancouver-based actors, such as Street Fighter X Tekken, they only used one or two and that was it. Making a dub cast that uses LA for one half and Vancouver for the other half of the cast would be extremely complicated due to having to sign contracts with both the UBCP and the SAG-AFTRA)
said at 6:38 PM on Sun Sep 20 2015
@Domayv I wasn't saying that I literally wanted an LA-Vancouver hybrid dub just so Marc could be Ging while still having a Vancouver cast. I'm not that ignorant. I was merely saying that I thought he'd be a great fit for the character while making it clear that I'm more in support of Ocean dubbing HxH.

@PsychicVoiceSpy I doubt it could match his Oscar Worthy Guts, but he does sound a lot like Kevin Conroy but somewhaf younger. If he was Batman in Arkham Origins, it would've been awesome! But RCS was good too.

Happy birthday, Marc Diraison! Guts was all it took to make him one of my favorite VA's of all time, and he's excellent in everything else I've heard him in since then. He's the perfect voice for bad@$$ characters and he can make them sound VERY imposing, but he also puts tons of raw emotion into his roles as well.

He's also incredibly funny, giving great comedic delivery when it's called for and his outtakes from Berserk are absolutely hysterical! I hope to see him in a LOT more things now that he's in LA.

Happy Birthday Marc Diraison.

You absolutely slayed it as Guts in Berserk. Nobody could have played that role as well as he did. It's easily one of the greatest castings ever in anime dub history.

I also like his voice for Tokiomi Tohsaka in Fate/Zero and his Zoro/Zolo in the 4Kids dub of One Piece was definitely the shining light in that travesty of a dub, if only he could have voiced him in an uncut dub of One Piece.

I'm glad you moved to LA, now you can get more roles as you rightfully deserve.

In addition to his phenomenal performance as Guts and other characters like Tokiomi Tohsaka and Zoro.....

I've also loved his performances as Silver Sentry, Raptarr, Solomon Muto (Young). Riley, Tyson, Ithnan, Cassim's Father, George Joestar and Sweeper.

But despite all that Guts will always be my all-time favourite role, character and performance of his. I'm really hoping with the new Berserk TV anime coming this year we'll get a broadcast dub out of that with Marc reprising Guts. I couldn't imagine Guts sounding any other way in English.

anyways Happy Birthday Marc Diraison!

If VIZ Media doesn't reunite the original dub cast (especially Marc) I refuse to buy the movies!

If VIZ does use an L.A. cast (hope they don't) I doubt they'll be as good as the New York cast.

Plus I heard Michael Sinterniklaas (who directed the TV series dub) knows the Berserk universe like the back of his hand.

If VIZ hires someone else to direct I doubt they'll do as good a job.

The Berserk dub is arguably the best dub the New York talent pool has ever worked on.

The original Pokemon cast was awesome but the show itself had some minor edits/censorship.

Berserk dub was uncut, unedited and just amazing!
