Happy Birthday and RIP Mako Iwamatsu!

He had to be one of the greatest actors ever, he had a true presence in all of the roles he had done in his career.

I absolutely loved him as Uncle Iroh in Avatar, the perfect wise old mentor and uncle to Zuko. He had such a great philosophy and was also really funny too. Mako's performance and the characterization too helped make Iroh my favourite character in the show. It's such a shame he died before the show concluded, though somewhat fortunate he passed around the time of the beginning of the third and final season when Iroh took a vow of silence, they managed to find a damn good replacement in the form of Greg Baldwin who carried on his legacy well but I still wish Mako could have finished the show....alas.

He was also fantastic as the evil and hammy Aku and the also wise old Master Splinter.

again it's also a shame he passed and now won't be able to have seen the end of Samurai Jack and finish voicing Aku, I hope whoever his replacement is (most likely Greg Baldwin) will continue Mako's legacy and makes him and us all proud.
