 1 Shout Out!
Doesn't surprise me why Laura is pretty much the go-to VA for mature female voices nowadays, whether it's a mother, older females or a villainess. Though those type of roles are what she is commonly cast as, she is more than capable at nailing youthful roles as well, such as Nozomi (LL) in particular. Can't wait to check out more of her work in the future.

Happy Birthday Laura Post!

My top 10 favourite roles of hers are:

1.) Ragyo Kiryuin (Kill la Kill)
2.) Diana Cavendish (Little Witch Academia)
3.) Cindy Campbell (Squid Girl)
4.) Fubuki/Blizzard from Hell (One Punch Man)
5.) Diantha (Pokemon Generations)
6.) Myers (Magi)
7.) Eri Watabe (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne)
8.) Tellu (Sailor Moon)
9.) Red's Mom (Pokemon Origins)
10.) Bosbos (Redline)

I am hoping she's reprising Diana for when LWA's anime is getting dubbed, that was a pretty inspired casting choice, as her for Diana reminded me a lot of Carrie Kerranen (oddly and fittingly enough), especially with being a rival type character for a Trigger protagonist voiced by Erica Mendez in English.

I also thought she was a perfect fit for Diantha in Pokemon Generations, one of the few legitimately perfect castings in that dub, I totally can't unimagine that voice for the character now.

I find it rather surprising that considering how many deep, mature ladies she voices her natural voice is a lot higher than I thought it would be.

Overall definitely one of the more underrated newcomer VA's in the LA anime talent pool of this decade, hopefully she can continue to get more roles. She's got a lot of versatility.

Was hooked on this gal the moment I heard her as Arfoire, and I've got no words to express how deliciously villanious her Ragyo Kiryuin was; just as good as Romi Park's take (if not better). Other favorite Post roles consist of Valentine, Bosbos, Fubuki/Blizzard from Hell, and Rosalia. Laura's Diantha was decent, too.

After hearing her performance as Diana, I feel that Laura could be Erina Nakiri in Food Wars if given the chance. I know Food Wars will be dubbed by Sentai, but one can dream, right?
said at 6:21 AM on Fri Oct 14 2016
@Jared Delgado To be honest with you Jared, I feel that Kira Buckland should be Erina Nakiri from Shokugeki no Soma. I mean she is working with Sentai and she has a good enough range. Laura seems to deep to play the role of Erina. If you want I actually made a LA voice cast for Shokugeki no Soma.

@4xNicholas Pretty good. I wasn't expecting Alan Lee to be mentioned in a dream cast, let alone a lead role. Alan deserves more work in the dubbing studio. You made my day.
said at 6:10 AM on Sun Oct 16 2016
@Jared Delgado Thanks. I worked hard trying to find voices. I looked all over, from Little Witch Academia to Magi. I take casting these voices very seriously. I consider how their voices might sound with the character and look at their demo reel. I have always wanted Alan Lee to get another lead as well. Lucky me, he sounded right IMO for Soma.

Pardon me, but since when is Kira involved in Sentai Productions? o.O

As far as I'm concerned, she has only worked for Funimation and Media Blasters (NY), besides LA based studios?
said at 4:30 PM on Tue Dec 27 2016
@Sk8erPrince You may not have seen what I was doing. Look, I know this is Sentai licensed. But I wanted to show my choice of voice actors for an LA cast. Yes, all of these voice actors are from LA. If I were to try and make an attempt for Sentai, I could do so if you would like.
said at 7:02 AM on Wed Dec 28 2016

I know you made an imaginary cast, but I was replying directly to this statement of yours.

"I feel that Kira Buckland should be Erina Nakiri from Shokugeki no Soma. I mean she is working with Sentai and she has a good enough range."

I was just wondering if you could point which Sentai production Kira was cast as, if you don't mind? Also, since Food Wars is getting dubbed soon, we should be seeing the official cast list (comprised of Houston talent) early next year. I wouldn't mind at all if newbies were tasked to do it - watch the Akame ga Kill dub and you'll get what i mean. Then again, Texan regulars would be cool as well.

@Sk8erPrince I saw it in Rio: Rainbow Gates.
said at 1:34 AM on Thu Dec 29 2016
@4xNicholas Rio: Rainbow Gate isn't a Sentai dub, it's by Media Blasters who have Amber Lee Connors & Brittany Lauda directing the cross-coastal cast at two studios.

@JRPictures Please excuse my ignorance. I just have a dream that LA, Houston and Dallas can eventually find a way for all its actors to work together and come united for one goal to make really good anime. Imagine Yuri Lowenthal in Sentai and Funimation or Zach Aguilar and Max Mittelman for Sentai and Funimation. Wouldn't that be awesome. For every company to band together and eventually create masterpiece dubs,

I know this is not truly possible. But can't a guy dream and come on, for anyone who likes dubs. I am sure ir would kick so much ass to make this happen, think of all the possibilities and casting choices that can happen. Dubbing decisions could no longer be limited and anyone can voice any character. Hell if we have Video Game actors and Cartoon Actors join in, there can be no limit to who can play who. It would be a Voice Director's haven.

I am actually attempting and trying to start it, whwn I grow up, I want Eric Bauza to play anime roles. I know it is not that possible but it could be I mean someone like Clancy Brown and Tara Strong and even Daisy Ridley did anime roles, I mean Ghibli Films. Question, if that is the case, can't it be eventually possible? I know money and paying for them is real difficult, but if someone has the know how, they might be able to get this help. GUYS, I HAVE AN IDEA, LETS TRY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. SPREAD THE WORD, IF WE WANT SOME TRULY STELLAR AND DIVERSE DUBS. Let us unite to dream happen. I know it would be competition hell for voice actors but it could motivate them to train harder so they can become better actors and get hired. If it isn't possible in the end, I just feel proud that I tried doing this. Come on, lets give this a go.

To try to have LA, Houston and Dallas have a system where they can borrow any actor they like for any role so the dub can have stronger quality and more diversity. If not that, at least for Video Game and Cartoon Voice actors to get into anime. I mean most of it is done in LA, why else could the three I mentioned before work on Ghibli films?

"Please excuse my ignorance. I just have a dream that LA, Houston and Dallas can eventually find a way for all its actors to work together and come united for one goal to make really good anime."

Funimation is already onto that. Lots of recent Funi dubs invite LA talent into their productions. Plenty of older anime that got a sequel or two that are now licensed by Funimation have managed to get most, if not all the original VAs to reprise their roles. These VAs could be living in LA or New York. The NYAV post is especially useful in reuniting VAs or casting VAs outside of Texas.

On the other hand, union status is a thing in the VO world. If you're wondering why so many cartoon VAs are not in anime, that's because they're union VAs. Most anime are NOT union. Some are, but most aren't. Ghibli is a different story. Miyazaki stuff are mostly high budget (done by Disney), which is why a lot of union VAs (or even celebs) are in it.

Funimation is getting more and more diverse with their casting though, and if you want me to be honest, I'm fine with the way things are rn, as long as there's good acting on the table.

@Sk8erPrince Thanks for that, I needed it. I actually see that with Mob Psycho 100. I just want the same as you, quality dubs and less people saying that dubs are ****. I want to eventually try to change their minds. I know in the end that is futile. But I make it as a motivator to make dubs higher in quality.
said at 12:16 PM on Fri Dec 30 2016

Np. Also, you shouldn't let silly billies that don't know better regarding the amazingness of dubs bother you. They just don't know what they're missing, ya know? Personally, I think dubs are getting better and better over the years, but as they say, there's always room for improvement. I'm very optimistic regarding bringing dubs to the next level, and I hope that I could somehow contribute to that goal when I go pro. :D

Cool list, but in case you weren't aware, there is the Dream Cast section in the website's forum. There is already a thread for Food Wars, so you can copy and paste.

BTW, not an admin or mod, but I remember them saying to not use the comments for writing down Dream Casts.

P.S. I am going to have to look up Alan Lee since I have never heard of him before.

Laura was just deliciously evil as Ragyo Kiryuuin, she's also boss as Myers and hilarious as Cindy Campbell.

Definitely one of really cool new up and comers in dub voice acting. We need more mature sounding VA's.
