Happy Birthday Kevin. I swear you have been in every cartoon I've ever watched, but with your talent it's easy to understand why.

Happy Birthday Kevin Michael Richardson!!

He does an amazing job voicing characters such as Captain Gantu (Lilo & Stitch), The Joker (The Batman), Willem Viceroy III (Randy Cunningham), Maurice (Penguins of Madagascar), Panthro (Thundercats), and among many others.

Happy Birthday Kevin Michael Richardson!

One of the deepest and most recognizable voices in the industry and his voice sounds awesome. With that said the only real problem is that creators and casting directors don't take KMR to his advantage and use him to the fullest extent of his vocal range. A lot of his roles are usually the big deep voiced giant characters and can get samey but I do understand why they tend to cast him in these roles because he is perfect at it and fills in a certain niche.

I think the first role I've ever really recognized him in was as Gantu in Lilo and Stitch, which was awesome since Gantu is the main antagonist in the movie and for him to be voiced by a regular in the voice acting industry is pretty awesome though considering they did a cartoon series then afterwards it was a very smart move. Over the course of the cartoon series Gantu basically becomes a beleaguered henchman and Kevin pulls off his much more comedic moments very well.

One of my new favourite roles of his is as The Shredder in the new TMNT series. I mean ok yeah he doesn't have a Japanese accent which is my only real gripe but otherwise what KMR brings to this role is a cruel, deep voiced and even terrifying performance, it's perfect for this cruel revenge driven villain. I feel his voice and performance for Shredder what I call a perfect mix between the late James Avery and David McCharen.

Another example of his range was when he voiced The Joker in the Batman, OK I've never cared for the design the Joker has here but his personality, fighting style and Kevin's performance is just awesome. That might have been one of the most ballsy casting decisions ever and it friggin worked. He's gleefully wicked in the role and his laugh is great. I mean Mark Hamill will always be the definitive Joker but KMR was one of the first Jokers I've heard so I'll always have a soft spot for it.

I also loved his performances as Principal Lewis, Maurice, Bulkhead, Omega Supreme, Terrashock, Trigon, Kilowog, Mogo, Black Manta, B'Wana Beast, Starro, Detective Chimp, Despero, Steppenwolf, Monsieur Mallah, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Gorilla Grodd, Solomon Grundy, Mammoth, See-More, Robert Hawkins, Lucius Fox, Groot, Howard the Duck, Man-Ape, Shadow King, Bishop, Wolverine, Tombstone, Nick Fury, Scorpio, Frankenstein's Monster, Korg, Roadblock, Sheriff Blubs, Bouncer, Chutzpar, Leaderar, Big Henry, Jabba the Hutt, Willem Viceroy III, Skulker, Dark Laser, Tyro, Lion Turtle, PandaBubba, Agent Roboto, Mr. Stinko, Doctor Payne, Uncle Oswidge, King Throktar, Cleveland Junior, Mr. Gus, Heihachi Mishima and just about every time he's voiced Santa Claus.

@Lpfan120 I'm sure there probably is somewhere. It's just that KMR's voiced more iconic and/or distinctive characters than that.
said at 12:00 PM on Mon Feb 24 2014
True, I acknowledge that he has. It's not that big a deal. I'm not throwing a "HOW DARE YOU GUYS DISAGREE WITH ME!" fit.

Guys, I'm trying to figure this out... what do u think his deepest voice was? I think it's EGO... THE LIVING PLANET!!!
said at 8:42 AM on Tue Dec 31 2013
@lnytune1 Hm...hard to say, but I personally think Trigon is him at his deepest.

I could be wrong, though.
said at 7:46 AM on Wed Jan 1 2014
@Metabad Yeah, that's pretty deep, but I still think it's ...EGO!!!

@lnytune1 I beg to differ.... Tartarus, Cheiftain of the Brutes from Halo 2 would like to have a word with you.

Has a lot of great roles but without him there would be no Crunch in Crash Bandicoot or Marvel would have 2 write out Tombstone in Spectacular Spiderman if he wasn't there so this guy does so much for voice acting & that's what I like about him.

Kevin, Y U No show vocal range?!
said at 4:39 PM on Thu Jun 6 2013
@LordofEvil96 Because the voice directors are lazy and tell him to do the same crap over and over again when he could be doing much more fresh and unique work.
said at 12:25 AM on Fri Jun 7 2013

Actually, if you listen to his characters that supposedly sound the same, you can tell that there are subtle differences between them.
said at 4:11 AM on Wed Jan 1 2014
@PsychicVoiceSpy It's called voice ACTING. Being able to deliver a good performance is more important than having a wide vocal range.
said at 9:27 AM on Wed Jan 1 2014
@Blues Why are you telling me this? Do you think I'm hating on KMR? I'll have you know that I was defending him. I do consider him a good voice actor on his acting talent alone. And yes, without the ability to act you career is sunk, but having some vocal versatility is rather important as well, which KMR clearly has.

The only point I was making with my comment is that he DOES possess vocal range, but whether casting and voice directors take advantage of that is another story entirely. I don't know why exactly this comment is directed at me, but you're kinda preaching to the choir here.
