Happy Birthday and RIP Joe Alaskey. Sorry about your passing, would've been 64 if still alive today. Overall you were outstanding as Bugs and Daffy these past 15 years.

Happy Birthday and R.I.P. Plucky Duck, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian, Sylvester the Cat, and Grandpa Lou Pickles.

It's been over a month since his passing and I've only now have I found the time to write this comment.

Believe it or not I haven't seen Tiny Toon though I have seen many Looney Tunes products, most of which I grew up watching including Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, Duck Dodgers and the movie Back in Action. Along with the classics of course.

He was my favourite VA for Marvin the Martian and I personally felt he did a decent jobs as Bugs & Daffy. I know that may sound controversial considering he is considered to be the best successor to Mel Blanc but that's just my opinion, I'm saying he's terrible by any means as I know there are some people out there that like to twist words around.

Anyway, he was a good replacement as Grandpa Pickles in Rugrats as well as being a decent stand in as Mermaid Man in one of the SpongeBob games.

If the guys over at Nickelodeon ever brought the character back, I was hoping he would voice him instead of the original choice of Joe Whyte. Sadly this can never be.

RIP Joe Alaskey, may your voice live on and thank you for the childhood memories.
said at 5:58 AM on Sun Aug 21 2016
@Ross123 And even then Joe Whyte I think stopped voice acting a loooong time ago looking at his resume(which is most likely why Alaskey voiced him in the later games to start with)

I'm very saddened of what happened to Joe Alaskey 2 days ago. He was one of the many spiritual successors to Mel Blanc and was able to capture the spirit and wackiness for most of the Looney Tunes characters he voiced for the past two decades including Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester, Marvin the Martian, Plucky Duck and especially Daffy Duck along with his alter ego: Duck Dodgers.

I also was impressed on his other voice roles (outside of Looney Tunes) such as Grandpa Pickles from Rugrats as he captured the spirit of the late David Doyle, Stinkie in Casper and Droopy Dog in the latest Tom and Jerry direct-to-video films.

So RIP Joe Alaskey, you will be missed, but your voice over roles on many of the characters you played that we grew up during our childhood will never be forgotten.

That is really shocking. I loved him as Plucky in TINY TOONS and he did an adequate job in revoking the classic Looney Toons characters.

RIP Joe Alaskey!

Of all the folks who have come and gone voicing Looney Tunes characters over the years, he was definitely the best at replicating the energy and spirit that Mel Blanc had began with these classic iconic and hilarious characters.

He was the first ever voice actor to ever succeed the late Mel Blanc in any role of his, he voiced Yosemite Sam in Who Framed Roger Rabbit which was done while Mel was still alive.

I had such fond memories of shows such as Tiny Toons Adventures and Duck Dodgers which is where I feel Joe truly shined as an actor.

It's a shame that over the years his work load began to be less and less. I Personally Feel IMO Jeff Bergman does not do as great of a job compared to Joe in voicing the classic Looney Tunes characters.

It was really cool that he at least reprise one last time as Daffy Duck as The Green Loontern in Lego Batman 3, that was a nice touch and reference to that one hilarious episode of Duck Dodgers.

It's a shame he passed away so young, 64 years old and from cancer nonetheless. 2016 has been an absolute awful year between the deaths of David Bowie and Alan Rickman and now Joe.

Even more depressing is that only a few days ago he made a new website, it was basically the last thing he posted on the internet while he was still alive. I find that just eerie.

RIP Joe Alaskey, your performances as Plucky Duck, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian, Sylvester the Cat, Tweety Bird, Yosemite Sam, Grandpa Lou Pickles, Doctor Octopus and so many other great roles were excellent.

I just can't believe it. I might have not grown up with Joe, due to me being born in the late 90's and in The Netherlands, but it's still sad to see he died. First David Bowie, then Alan Rickman, and now Joe. All because of the same horrible disease: Cancer.

RIP Joe Alaskey, you will be missed.

RIP Mr. Alaskey. It's sad that another VA has died, and he was rather young for a veteran, just 64. It's even sadder that he helped keep on the spirit of Mel Blanc's characters since he managed to do good impressions as them.

2016's gone to a pretty depressing start. First David Bowie then Alan Rickman and now Joe Alaskey.

RIP Joe Alaskey. Always will be remembered for succeeding Bugs, Daffy, Sylvester, Tweety, Marvin the Martian, Beaky Buzzard (more like a Vulture), Pepe Lepew, Speedy Gonzales, and other such notable Looney Tunes, mostly notably in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. He hadn't even done Voice Over with Looney Tunes since 2006-2008 anyway, wish luck to whoever voices those Looney Tunes in the years to come, like Jeff Bergman.

He had a nice little autobiography. Inside it said Mel wanted his son to be his sole successor, and how Jeff Bergman was initially fired during the Tiny Toons era (why he didn't voice Bugs or Daffy for nearly 20 years).

Guy went everywhere, and now he's in Heaven. God bless.

Seems like sometime after the mid-2000's he drifted out of the spotlight as far as Looney Tunes goes. My guess is that after seeing how bad Space Jam turned out, he was more discerning about what LT roles he took on up until Loonatics, after which he more or less dropped out of figuring into any major productions.

Even if he didn't have as much of a presence in his last years, he at least left his mark and that's what counts.
said at 5:21 PM on Thu Feb 4 2016
@CatsTuxedo To me, it looked like he just chose to cut back on voiceover in general for some reason until very recently. He didn't have much of any roles after 2006ish. He actually relaunched his website just a few days ago. He died really suddenly.

Also he wasn't in Space Jam. Billy West and Dee Baker were Bugs and Daffy in that respectively.

@PurpleWarrior13 I know he wasn't in SJ, but he was called for auditions several times before he finally told Reitman "either you want me or you don't". He did see the final movie and was ultimately glad he wasn't a part of it, which I suppose led to him being more wary on modern Looney Tunes after that.

Looney Tunes stuff aside (I totally concur he was easily the best of Mel's successors) I really dug him as Doc Ock and the bonkers Viking general from the one episode of Samurai Jack.

He was also great in White Knight Chronicles. Drisdall's a pretty small part, but also one with a surprising amount of depth, and Joe rocks it. It feels especially poignant now.

This sucks. Joe was an incredibly versatile voice actor, and I think he was by far the best replacement voice for Looney Tunes. He truly shined in Duck Dodgers voicing both Dodgers and Marvin the Martian. Marvin was my favorite Looney Tune, and I think Joe surpassed even Mel Blanc as that character.

I'm really sad now. RIP Joe Alaskey. Perhaps one of the greatest vocal matches to Mel Blanc, right up there with Jeff Bergman. The Looney Tunes I think he did the best job recreating Mel's iconic voices were Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety & Marvin The Martian. I remember watching Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries & Alaskey as Sylvester always stood out to me. It sounded that awesome. Also he did a great job as Grandpa Lou Pickles. It sucks that we have lost this great voice actor this early into 2016.
