Happy Birthday Jim Cummings!

He is without a doubt one of my top favourite VA's of all-time, easily in the top 5 for sure. Seriously when it comes to VA's from your childhood, I consider Jim Cummings one of the definitive ones, heck if you grew up from the 80's and on in the English speaking parts of the world and never once watched a cartoon with Jim in it....I hate to say it but you had no childhood, kidding aside Jim was one of the first VA's I usually could recognize in every cartoon but that was never a bad thing since the voices, the characters and performances he did were usually top notch.

My favourite role of his is without a doubt Winnie the Pooh, I was a huge fan of Pooh back in the day, I lived and breathe Pooh, I'd usually watch the cartoons and movies nearly every day. I am aware that he didn't originate the role of Winnie the Pooh that was Sterling Holloway but Jim is the VOICE I've come to associate the character with, I mean wow not only is it a damn good impression of Sterling's but I'd say this is an example of an impression that surpasses the original. I just love how innocent, good nature and naive Pooh is and Jim performs that part of the character splendidly. The fact he's also now taken on the role of Tigger from and the late and great Paul Winchell is rather darn good too. While I still prefer Paul's version of Tigger, Jim does a solid impression of him and since then has made the character his own.

A close runner up for favourite role of his has to BE THE TERROR THAT FLAPS IN THE NIGHT! Darkwing Duck! Only recently as of this year I finally got around to watching the show and oh man was that a blast. I can totally see why people considering DW one of their favourite roles of Jim's. I love how his voice kind of plays him off as a Daffy Duck impression but with Jim Cumming's twist to it but he also shows how great at improv too with doing a lot of ad-libbing with the role too. The fact he's able to also make Darkwing's evil counterpart Nega-Duck just as distinct sounding too is incredible. The fact he also voiced Herb Muddlefoot and Professor Moliarty is also impressive too.

I also have loved and enjoyed so many other great roles of his including Pete, Monterey Jack, Fat Cat, Professor Norton Nimnul, Sgt. Spinelli, Dingo, Gillecomgain/Hunter, Ed, Tazmanian Devil, Kraven The Hunter, Green Goblin Noir, Boomerang, Shocker, Absorbing Man, MODOK, Thanos, Kingpin, Crusher Hogan, Cat, Fuzzy Lumpkins, Jonah Hex, Master of Games, Temblor, Hondo Ohnaka, Ultra Lord, Clampdown, Colonel Quint Quarry, Rippersnapper, Afterburner, Dr. Hudson, Pirate Liliputtian, Police Chief Gluteus, Vexx, Dr. Robotnik, Crud, Smudge, Bruno, Nasty Jack, Shredder, Leatherhead, Ackar, Razoul the Head Guard, Captain of the Guards, Ocula, Terror Mask, The Numerous times he's voiced Santa Claus and whenever he filled in for Jeremy Irons as Scar....I mean wow he really does a bang up job especially in the song Be Prepared. If no one had ever pointed this out, I don't think I would have ever caught on to that, great job as always Jim. I hope I get the chance to meet him someday.

I also think he could pull off both Optimus Prime and or Megatron someday....and even Ironhide too in a future Transformers series.

Happy Birthday Jim Cummings!!!

Easily one of my favorite voice actors from my childhood years. He does an incredible job voicing Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Pete, Tazmanian Devil and among many other roles from Disney and Warner Bros. especially the former after Pooh's original voice actor Sterling Holloway passed away.

I also enjoy his other roles as Cat (CatDog), Ray the Firefly (Princess and the Frog), Hondo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars & Rebels), Ed (The Lion King), and Fuzzy Lumpkins (PowerPuff Girls).

So Happy 63rd Birthday for more than 3 decades of voice over Jim. :D

One of his really impressive feats was voicing Buddy in Animaniacs. I hardly recognised him, given how distinctive his voice is.

Happy birthday Jim.

Wonder if Disney will ever make another Winnie the Pooh film or tv show? I guess it's tough to say since they have to pay to use the character.

He will always have a place as one of Disney's best known actors. It's cool he got to have a Studio Ghibli role too.

Why was he not voicing the Tasmanian Devil in the Looney Tunes Animated/Live-Action film? Instead they used someone who already plays who plays whom I think is the Main Live Action Protagonist.

Jim Cummings isn't just a voice actor, that doesn't do him enough justice. He's a vocal god if I do say so myself!

@NoxiousSludge it'd be both accurate and ironic to call him the Captain Justice of voice acting, imo xD

I love Jim Cummings! But whoever put that he was Cheshire Cat in Alice and Wonderland was wrong. Sterling Holloway did it.

@DiamondCoffee He voiced the Cat for a deleted song from the movie, as the voice clip itself would at least imply.
said at 5:32 PM on Fri Sep 12 2014
@CatsTuxedo Cummings wasn't born back when Alice in Wonderland came out. He was 1 year after the film.

@CuriousUserX90 The deleted song was written during the movie's production, but it wasn't performed and recorded until the DVD extras were put together.

As voice actors go, I'd say Jim Cummings' voice is probably the most distinctive - I can usually recognize him. I think one thing he truly is gifted at is accents - he truly has an ear for that.

Hi Guys, just to clear up some stuff. I sang the song "Be Prepared" in Lion King- Jeremy did all the speaking in the intro and the dialogue in the middle but the rest is me, I also looped a few lines cuz he was back in England and unavailable. Also Jess Harnell and I sang the "demo" of " Hakuna Matata" for the benefit of Nathan L. and Ernie S. and I wrote the lyrics to the infamous fart/rhyming verse. Good times!!
