Happy Birthday Jason Adkins! His portrayals of Ike weren't the most consistent as far as the acting was concerned, but his voice certainly fit the "Radiant Hero" quite well IMO.

I didn't even realize he'd been replaced until today. Thus ends the streak of Nintendo's longest serving non-Mario/Pokemon English voice actor.

@GreenGoblin75 I honestly don't think so. We'll know for sure when Ike gets his special costume

Is Jason Adkins really a Seattle based VA? I thought the Fire Emblem Games in English were recorded in LA.

@CuriousUserX90 They used a studio in Seattle called Bad Animals (Which Nintendo frequently used before games like Kid Icarus Uprising) and had him record his lines from there (along with Laura Faye Smith I think) while the rest of the cast are LA-based VAs.

@HylianBelmont There are still a Number of Games recorded in Seattle, like the Mario Franchise, which doesn't use Full on Voice Acting, in addition to the Star Fox games, the latter might use a Studiopolis Cast where the Sonic Games are currently recorded one of these days.

@NCZ What am I even talking about? I thought the Fire Emblem Games were recorded in English in LA, but someone's telling me Jason Adkins lives in Seattle. HylianBelmont above states all Nintendo Games were recorded in English in Seattle up until games like Kid Icarus Uprising, though some games like Star Fox still are recorded in Seattle, and it's nice that they've always intended to use Seattle Based VAs for Mario to this day, probably with the Latter Franchise not using Full on Extensive Voice Acting.

It's awesome that he has kept voicing Ike all this time, and he just gets better and better each time he plays him imo.

@HylianBelmont

There should be a voice compare for each time he's played Ike. Altho, i fear he and Jennifer Douillard will turn out literally voicing only one character, even if they appear in multiple games.

@martyyahar I hope he'll do more characters then just Ike honestly. I mean Star Fox Zero's voice acting is being done by Bad Animals (I think) so maybe he'll have one or two roles in that game.

@HylianBelmont Update: Turns out he's not in that game. You'd think at this point he'd get another voice role, but no.

@martyyahar He seems to be more of a on-stage actor than a voice actor so it makes sense that he wouldn't really be getting that much voicework aside from just reprising Ike every now and then. It's kind of a shame but that's just how it is I suppose.

Regardless I'm glad Nintendo decided to keep consistency with Ike's voice despite the flak Jason got from his performances in Path of Radiance, and to a lesser extent, Radiant Dawn. Because it makes Ike sound more distinct if you get what I mean.

@HylianBelmont I agree with all of that, except Radiant Dawn had worse voice acting while Path Of Radiance's was okay. To be honest, I admire the consistency, but I find his voice to be too old for the character.

Not that I liked any Fire Emblem game after Sacred Stones and before Awakening, but still.

@martyyahar The only voices in PoR I liked were the Black Knight and Greil. Everyone else I wasn't really fond of. While RD wasn't PERFECT with it's VO, at least you had some voices that were fairly fitting, like Shinon, Ranulf, Micaiah, Skrmir and the very enthusiastic Narrator!

As for Ike's voice. I agree that in PoR he sounded too old for the character, but in RD his voice actually fit the Ike's design in that game better in my opinion, and honestly, ever since SSBB I think he's been a pretty good fit for the character overall. (with the exception of the "I fight for my friends" line, which was more an issue with how the line was written then it was the voice itself.)

@HylianBelmont Well, the reason the "I fight for my friends." line became memetic was for the robotic delivery. That said, it *was* for dummying the voice audio in the game and he sounded substantially better in the non-dummy version.

I understand the rest, tho. I mean, he has been getting substantially better since Nintendo likely used its world-famous Nintendo money to by a competent director for their high-profile games.

RD somehow made LANI MINELLA sound untalented. There were some great voices, but I get the feeling it was by chance.

@martyyahar it's a shame too. Because Lani has a voice that would fit quite a few Fire Emblem characters, but unfortunately she was completely miscast as Rolf, Mia and Mist (Mist in particular was absolutely horrendous.)

That being said. I could see her being a much better Micaiah if she ever got the chance to reprise the role with better voice direction (like if they made a remake of RD on the 3DS for instance.)

@HylianBelmont Sadly, there's never been any redub that adds a new director and keeps the good parts of the old cast.
