I just finished Rudolf's chapter in Fire Emblem Echoes, and man was Jamieson's performance just awesome there. Definitely one of my new favourite roles from him now.

Happy Birthday Jamieson Price!

My top 10 favourite roles of his are:

1.) Rider/Iskandar (Fate/Zero)
2.) Lordgenome (Gurren Lagann)
3.) Count of Monte Cristo/Edmond Dantes (Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo)
4.) Skull Knight (Berserk)
5.) Warpath (Transformers: War For Cybertron)
6.) Albert Maverick (Tiger & Bunny)
7.) Jelly Jiggler (BoBoBo-Bo Bo-BoBo)
8.) Blood War (Gungrave)
9.) Diethard Ried (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion)
10.) Volton (Redline)

He's had a pretty good year the past last year in terms of roles and performances.

I rather liked his performance as Dreyfus in The Seven Deadly Sins, Archie in Pokemon Generations, Metal Knight & Ancient King in One Punch Man.

I also really like his Mr. Satan in the Bang Zoom dub of Dragon Ball Super. Fitting considering how both of Satan's seiyuus were Heihachi, it made a lot of sense to cast his English VA here, plus it allowed Price to get the chance to show off his comedic acting chops.

It's also really surprising to find out he voiced Virion in Fire Emblem, that seriously still sounds like Paul St. Peter to me if anything, that's probably one of his best examples of his range right there and from what I've heard he's hilarious.

Don't ignore his GIGANTIC TAGER. Turn back, for only death awaits you on this path. Happy Birthday, Jamieson Price! Hoo boy, this fellow is simply marvelous. He's rated M for "manly", hot-blooded, a magnificent bastard, and he *is* ham itself; exaggerations aside, he throws a lot of passion alongside nuances into his roles which - coupled with his recognizably deep voice - makes him one of my favorite VAs in the anime dubbing sphere.

Concerning the performances I liked most from him, my favorite Jamieson roles are Lordgenome, Paul Phoenix, Heihachi Mishima, Jelly Jiggler, Virion, Warpath, Yasutora "Chad" Sado, Muramasa, Kurtis, Gyuki, Largo the Black Lion, Lu Bu, Volton, Sojiro Sakura, Yukio Oikawa, Colonel Shikishima, Giovanni, Archie, Ermac, Hercule (Mr. Satan), Algol, Bob Makihara, and Skull Knight. Of course the aforementioned Iron Tager's pretty neat also.

So, this whole time, he was Virion! I can understand why it went over our heads. Just compare it to his other roles (Rider, Noob Saibot, Paul Phoenix, Heihachi, Chad). His characters tend to be more hot-blooded. Plus, the voice itself is a lot smoother.

I'm pretty amazed. It turns out Jamieson was in fact Virion's actual VA this whole time. This is pretty amazing, no one would've ever thought it was him since Virion's voice is actually incredibly distinct from Jamieson's other roles. He really did an amazing job in showing off his range as Virion and was literally unrecognizable in the role: he also really got into it too and did an awesome job as Virion in general, I love that accent in particular, as well as the line delivery. I think this might very well be one of my new favorite roles of his, now that it's known that it was actually him this whole time. This is really amazing.

@ScraftyIsTheBest

For real. I'm listening to his lines in the game like his confession and I'm kicking myself so hard. Once you look past the french accent, the depth of the voice and the inflections and speech patterns are totally him. I'm so stunned.

@domeshot529 Yeah, he's such a perfect choice for Heihachi. Kinda also want to hear Richard Epcar, but really I dont think you could get better than Jamieson Price, on a realistic budget at least.

@huzaifa_ahmed Depends if they're willing to make a dub for Tekken 7. But considering the characters speak in their native language ever since Tekken Tag Tournament 2, they probably don't think it's worth it.

Though I do wonder, why there was an English dubbed trailer made for Tekken 7 when the first trailer first came out. Did that mean they intended to have a dub of the game? And have they gone back on this decision? Guess we'll have to wait till June 2nd to find out.

While I haven't heard every single one of his roles, I don't think I've ever heard a bad performance from him. Sure, he's very recognizable (which is a double-edged sword), but he always delivers. Congrats on 200+ roles and here's hoping to many more.

Happy birthday to Jamieson. Even if his voice isn't quite Akio Otsuka or Tessho Genda or Daisuke Gori, his performances aren't bad at all, & while it would be nice to hear his range more often, I really do think he should get bigger jobs.

He'd make a great Beast/Hank McCoy IMO.

Oh, & Darth Vader as well.

@huzaifa_ahmed You must be deaf (or hard of hearing) if you think his voice isn't as deep (or deeper) than any of those guys. Listen to his Algol and tell me that with a straight face.
huzaifa_ahmed
said at 9:52 PM on Wed Aug 10 2016
@AntiSabat666 Nah, those guys are basses. Jamieson is close to people like Chris Sabat & Lex Lang...

...whereas Otsuka, Genda, & Gori (as well as Banjo Ginga & the late Kenji Utsumi) are reminiscent of the likes of KMR, Jim E. Jones, MCD, & Barry White.

People have this weird stereotype that Japanese people somehow have softer voices than Westerners...

..but that is a cultural/speech-based thing. Japanese is pitch-inflected & generally sounds a lot softer.

btw, listen to Genda as Punisher, KMR as Heihachi, or Otsuka as Spawn.

Those pitches are a lot lower & more natural-sounding than a lot of Jamieson's stuff.

* Also, George Takei speaking ENglish, is pretty deep.

@huzaifa_ahmed LOL @ Jamieson Price having the same pitch as Lex Lang or Chris Sabat.

@huzaifa_ahmed Sorry man, I can't think of any other way to put this. Comparing Jamieson Price's and Chris Sabat's pitches to LEX LANG is patently absurd. I love the guy, but his voice is far, far removed from deep sound of those two, especially Jamieson. I'd really like to know how you came to this conclusion.
huzaifa_ahmed
said at 2:38 PM on Sat Oct 8 2016
@Nightmare Crusher Just clearing out old, unanswered messages...

I do regret some of these comments I make as really awkward.

& you're right, I think Lex sounds more like maybe Charlie Adler or Keith Silverstein, where Jamieson & Chris sound more like Dan Green or Richard Epcar. I have a chart of vocal timbres of VA's that I know well.

However, I think the hammy nature of Jamieson's work overshadows what he actually sounds like. He sounds kinda...faking a "narrator" speech-pattern, rather than really having a voice for a character like the Hulk or what-have-you.

Chris's problem is that he's less of a character actor & more a small-time promo guy, probably because that's what pays best even in non-union Texas. Not gonna lie, I hear much more character in David Wald's performances.

However, I came to Lex being really deep because he voiced Egor in Durarara, it was so deep I originally thought it was Paul St. Peter before looking it up. Plus he's done many characters that Steve Blum & Paul Dobson have. (& incidentally, Egor in Japanese is voiced by Naraku, dubbed by Paul). That's that.
Nightmare Crusher
said at 2:57 PM on Sat Oct 8 2016
@huzaifa_ahmed There's nothing fake about his more "narrator" type voices. That's just his normal voice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJAyybvZWUE

The angrier, hammy stuff is what deviates from the norm for him. This is pretty easily observable for someone who plays as much Dynasty Warriors as I have. Lu Bu was the first of the really bombastic roles Jamieson has done and he's clearly uncomfortable with it in most of the dialogue for DW5. It's the later games where the method got perfected and that is the voice you hear for the really hammy characters like Rider.

I'm hoping he'll be returning for Skull Knight in the upcoming Berserk anime, he was epic in the role.

Then again when is Jamieson Price not epic, the man's voice is just legendary and booming.

He's one of the best cast VA's in the industry.
