Happy Birthday Harry Shearer!

His work on The Simpson was and still is classic!

Of all the character's he's voiced during the show's almost twenty-five year run, my favourite would have to be Mr. Charles Montgomery Burns. He is a wickedly cruel, evil and rich old man who owns the nuclear power plant and has no qualms with releasing the hounds on unsuspecting people who come to him for help. Mr. Burns' voice is one of the most unique and distinct voices that I think Harry had created for the show. I think also helps that Burns is a perfect blend of comedy and pure evil. Overall I think he's rather oh what's the word? Oh yes......"Excellent!"

The fact he does a good 30% of The Simpsons characters is very impressive and I also loved his performances as Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Principal Seymour Skinner, Dr. Julius Hibbert, Reverend Timothy Lovejoy, Lenny Leonard, Otto Mann, Jasper Beardley, Scratchy, Rainier Wolfcastle/McBain, Dewey Largo, Sanjay Nahasapeemapetilon, Judge Roy Snyder, Dr. Marvin Monroe, Herman, Eddie, Louie, Kang, Birch Barlow, Jebediah Springfield, LT Smash and even as ex-presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush.

He really has an awesome vocal range to be able to do all that.

Happy 72nd Birthday Harry Shearer, I'm impressed by your efforts with The Simpsons, your age can never get in the way (even when you reach Mr. Burns' age, over 100 (similarly, his age never gets in the way of anything either)). For how ever long The Simpsons will last, be sure to keep up the Good Work.

Happy birthday to the guy who went from dubbing in Star Wars characters' voices to a multitude of roles in the Simpsons!

I am not sure who will take the roles of the characters Harry played, so I will wait until the next season I guess. :(

@MegaMike1990 Harry Shearer will continue to voice them, apparently.

I'm going to miss him, and the characters he voiced. Not only had he voiced the Most Characters, but he was the Oldest in the Cast, now it's Russi Taylor.

He's a super talented voice actor, and the show really won't be the same without him. He has an incredible range, I would've never believed all of these roles were voiced by the same person. I didn't realize until fairly recently that he was Mr. Burns AND Smithers.

If they have to replace him, I could maybe see Billy West taking most of his roles, with Carlos Alazraqui as Mr. Burns (he uses an almost identical voice as Mr. Crocker in Fairly Odd Parents).

@PurpleWarrior13 I was thinking about it and thought that a really good replacement for several of his characters (Skinner, Kang, and Kent specifically) would be Roger Bumpass

I loved his rolls in the Simpsons over the years, Flanders, MR. Burns, Skinner, Smithers, Otto, It blows my mind that like 4 or 5 voiceactors on that show voice multiple Simpsons characters for over 25 years. The Simpsons won't be the same without Harry, and I wish him the best of luck.

I think its time to retire the Simpsons, they had the most memorable and best jokes in the 90s, now they're just trying too hard and reach for anything they can think of to keep pumping more episodes.

@ErronDio I agree though I heard they'd end the show once they make it to Season 30 (which is certainly beyond overstaying it's welcome) but I'm kinda doubting that.

I can't believe he's finally left The Simpsons.

Seriously can they just end it already? The show is already a shell of its former self. I know all of his roles will be recast and it'll go on forever and ever but it would be nice if it did happen.

I hope Harry at least does more voice work in other projects in the near future.

I'm pretty sure Sthis is going to be the last season of the simpsons considering he's left now.

I'm sorry, it's going to be damn hard to find a replacement for a man who played 15 extremely big reoccuring characters on the show. It'd be like trying to find a replacement for Phil Lamarr on Futurama

@NCZ Yes there are good impersonators, but one to perfectly match 15 big reoccuring characters...I don't think so. It's going to be expensive to hire several people too.

it's going to be hard to continue the series without Ned, Smithers, Burns, Skinner, Otto, Kang, Kent Brockman, and several other characters.

It's not really like when Phil Hartman or Marcia Wallace died as Phil only played 2 moderatley big characters and Marcia played 1 and they could just write them out.

@skeletonking1234 Actually what I meant is they already confirmed the show is going on and they're just going to recast his roles.

@Dogman15 Yes I heard but do you know what?

I respect his decision for leaving and hope he has a successful career beyond The Simpsons.

And let's face it, the writers over there are just continuing to beat a dead hoarse into the ground.

Whatever would the Simpsons do if Harry Shearer were to pass away or retire? He's pretty much the Oldest Member of the Cast, 1 year older than Russi Taylor, and is one of the 6 Main Cast Members. He's Basically a Man in his 70s voicing a Man in his 20s as one of his roles on the show.

This guy does so many voices in the Simpsons that he's probably my 2nd favourite right next to Dan.
