So, who remembers him most for the animal voices and who remembers him most for the speaking voices?

@TheTrueYuma Much like Dee Bradley Baker, I remember him mostly for animal/creature voices. But in terms of full-on speaking voices? Megatron, Soundwave, Fred Jones, Scooby-Doo & Nibbler are the voices that immediately jump to mind.
Replysaid at 1:10 AM on Mon Mar 4 2013
@MilanTheVillain01 When did you first hear Dee Bradley Baker? The only animal voice I can think of that he did before Avatar is Mystery from Spongebob.
Replysaid at 5:36 AM on Mon Mar 4 2013
@TheTrueYuma I actually heard of him much later.
I mainly remember him as the voice of the Gravemind from Halo 2 & 3.

In just one year's time, he may be able to reach 1,000 roles or even more!

@SmartyBoyboy Oh gosh, I'd say that within one month's time* he'll be at 1000 roles (*or within 2 months from your original guess, since your estimate was from a few weeks ago ;) )

@TylerMirage Well, I guess it was "within 10 days" that he'd reach 1000. :D

@BlankSlate No one should be called the god of voices except Mel Blanc.
Replysaid at 7:10 PM on Mon Jun 25 2012
@RNB I'm gonna have to call you out on that one. It's true that Mel Blanc is amazing and is definitely worthy of the "voice god" title. He's the type of person that ANY voice actor should look up to. However, I'd say Frank Welker is just as deserving of the name, if not moreso due to the fact that he can do speaking and creature voices.
Replysaid at 12:09 AM on Tue Jun 26 2012
@NCZ I was just giving my opinion. I'd rather call him a living legend. I hold Frank in very high standing because of his abilities from his own talent and that fact that he can imitate many voices of voice actors that has passed (such as most of Don Messick's roles). But it was just my opinion. Take it or leave it.
Replysaid at 12:12 AM on Tue Jun 26 2012
@RNB "Living legend" isn't a bad title either! Just wanted to make sure nobody was knocking the wind out of Frank's achievements, so to speak.
Replysaid at 12:23 AM on Tue Jun 26 2012
@NCZ I figured. He does alot these days. Just listen to any cartoon nowadays. You'll either here him or Dee Baker in them. I guarantee it.
Replysaid at 4:52 AM on Tue Oct 30 2012
@RNB That's probably because Dee Bradley Baker is considered the succesor to Frank Welker.
Replysaid at 5:56 PM on Thu Mar 14 2013
@DeeBradleyBakerRules I doubt Dee would agree with that appellation. They're both great. . but Frank's career is still thriving; he needs no 'successor.'

Obviously, the "Unknown Voice Actor" profile could be any number of different voice actors. But assuming all of the roles listed on that profile was theoretically done by only one person, I'd say that he/she is easily the most versatile voice actor in history. :-o

A momentous undertaking to list Mr. Welker's credits. He has done at least one role in most animated programs produced in the US in the past 40-years.
However, I do have one additional show to add: "The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest" where Mr. Welker was both Bandit and the quadriplegic villain, Jeremiah Surd.

one thing I've noticed is that sometimes the artist will tend to draw the cartoon character to closely resemble the person that's providing the voice of the character.

He did voice Rock N Roll in GI Joe as well. You may have been confused because Rock N Roll had more than one person voice him...
Rock 'n Roll first appeared in the animated A Real American Hero mini-series. He was first voiced by Frank Welker, but then Will Ryan took over the part.

Hmmm, seems to be some debate out there on who voiced Penguin, (although more sources state Robert Morse)
The following site lists Welker as the voice
http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Penguin-(comics)
The following site lists Andre Stojka
http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Penguin_(comics)
And this site lists either Morse or Stojka

I'm not so sure he was Rock N Roll in G.I. Joe, either.

Yes, it would be hard to get all of Frank's credits down. I don't even think IMDB has all of his credits listed! But he is definitely one of my favorite heroes in the voice over world because when I was little I used to immate my favorite cartoon characters and most of them where animals. Later, when I learned that Frank Welker was responsible for over half of those animals, I was thrilled at the thought that people actually got paid to do all of those animal sounds and Frank rules when it comes to voicing animals! So, yes, I believe Frank is a voice over legend, too.
