While 4kids' quality was questionable, Dan's acting was really good, and it's a shame that the lack of a lot of VA work in New York (assuming he's still there) is preventing us from hearing him.

Has Dan Green acted in anything since 2011? I miss hearing his voice a lot...
said at 3:15 AM on Sun Jan 17 2016
@Shiny Raticate Dan Green was in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified under Jay Synder, which honestly surprised me. Outside of that? I don't recall him being in much sadly.

I'm hoping he comes back for the dub of the newer Yu-Gi-Oh film myself.
said at 8:04 PM on Fri Apr 22 2016
@Dr.Who I heard (for the life of me, I can't figure out where) that he'd retired from voice acting after his wife died during a ceseran so he could devote more time to his newly born twins. Now, that did happen a few years ago, and works that he's been featured in have been released since then, but it's possible those came out before this event happened...

He may not be what Yami Yugi is actually supposed to sound like, but I don't care. The 4kids voices are so iconic, I can never get them out of my head when looking at any YGO media.
said at 4:18 PM on Sun Jan 10 2016
For what it's worth, I think Dan was a close vocal match to his Japanese seiyu Shunsuke Kazama in his first season as Yami. It's later on we got the suave, deep voice for Yami (which still worked quite well to me), but his Yugi voice was always close.

If someone licenses a dub for the 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh Movie (hopefully Funimation), I hope they can Dan Green back as Yugi, if only just this one time.
said at 10:44 PM on Sun Mar 29 2015
@VGAfanatic It'll most likely be Konami/4K Media that will license the movie.
said at 6:19 AM on Fri Apr 3 2015
@Mikel Wait a minute, 4K Media? The one that was really owned by Konami?
said at 8:01 AM on Sat Apr 18 2015
@SteelEthlan Yes, not to mention, that company also used to be a part of 4kids before the company went bankrupt and had Saban pick up their licenses alongside of Konami picking up Toonzaki and Yu-Gi-Oh.
said at 8:00 AM on Mon Apr 20 2015
@Mikel So basically Konami has all of the license that 4kids and Saban previously have right? If that's the case maybe it could basically kickstart where they left off.
said at 3:30 PM on Sat May 23 2015
@VGAfanatic Is there a Yu-Gi-Oh Movie (2016) as you mentioned?

Happy Birthday Dan Green.

One of the greatest manly voices in anime and cartoons.

Yugi is easily my favourite role of his but there is honestly not a performance of his I don't like.
said at 12:51 PM on Sun Feb 7 2016
Aside from Yugi Muto and Atem, he was also great in roles such as Entei, Mewtwo, Vicious/Iron Masked Marauder, Knuckles the Echidna, Professor Birch, Norman, Eusine, Treecko, Gaav, Wizer, Zanaffar, Commander Mozar, Mortu, Ultimate Daimyo, Leonardo, Hudson Horstachio, Colossus and Professor Xavier.

It's good to see that he's slowly making his way back to voice acting again, hopefully we'll see him voice in another top notch NYAV Post dub in the near future.

Happy Birthday Dan Green!

I feel really sorry for Dan and the rest of the NY cast, they have practically gone into a forced retirement, good thing a lot of them have moved to LA, and are still getting roles, though I think a lot of them got a lot of unneeded hate, compared to other regions.

It's nice to see that Dan's appearing in a new anime movie dub. I hope he's doing much better now both in his personal life and his career, and that we'll be seeing more of him now. He's a fine performer and he seems like an awesome guy.

@PsychicVoiceSpy I don't mean to disappoint but the dub for Welcome to the Space show was done back in 2011, when Dan Green was still voice acting. It was commissioned by MangaUK and they released it on blu-ray in July 2012.

I can't believe the US is only just now finally getting it!

@Stelman257 Ah man, that is disappointing. I'll still hang onto hope he'll be back someday though. While we're on the subject, is Welcome to the Space Show a good movie? I'm thinking about checking it out.

In my opinion, Dan Green should probably work with Funimation Entertainment, or VIZ Media, I suggest Funimation.
said at 3:22 PM on Fri May 10 2013
@dcmarvelanime There are still other NY-based corporations that utilize local VA talent, such as NYAV Post and DuArt. 4Kids may have died, but that doesn't mean the end of their careers.

Of course, it's entirely possible for him to work with either FUNi or VIZ should he relocate to either one of those places (Dallas or LA, respectively), particularly considering how several VAs travel between different regions to do just that. Doing some non-anime voice-overs should help him out too.

Poor Dan, he lost his wife to childbirth and has now left the dubbing scene entirely due to the scarcity of work in New York. He's a great voice actor and apparently a really nice guy, so hearing about all this stuff happening to him breaks my heart. He deserves so much better.

@Spirit Macardi Dan Green's retired from voice acting? Such a shame.
said at 11:42 PM on Tue Mar 26 2013
@MrParadox Not so much as retired, more so there's, like, no more work in New York.
said at 8:48 PM on Thu Mar 28 2013
@Blues There is always work for voice acting everywhere. Voice acting for what we usually picture it as (tv shows, video games, etc) in New York though has been pretty low the past couple of years with Pokemon being one of the few shows that keep it alive. Still, I wish him and his kids the best, he deserves it.
said at 1:42 PM on Sat Apr 13 2013
Dan Green isn't very active in voice acting anymore, but he never left. Most NY-based VAs don't get as much work since 4Kids died, and some of them move to other regions to continue their career.

As long as they remain in voice-over, I suppose they'll probably have to take on non-anime-related TMGs, but that's only up for consideration now.
said at 10:36 PM on Sat Apr 13 2013
@pokemastanumba1 Most voice actors do more than just do voice overs for cartoons. If you look at Mike Pollock's website, you'll see that he has done commercials, James Arnold Taylor has mentioned that he did voice over for work related stuff, and I think I even heard Maurice LaMarche's voice in a Mazda commercial. Most voice actors would say that if you want to do voice acting, you need to be versatile in things like commercials, audio books and of course, tv shows and video games.
said at 10:42 PM on Sat Apr 13 2013
@MrParadox I'm very well aware of all that.

He certainly has a memorable voice, that's good for deeper-registered characters like Yami Yugi, Mewtwo, Gaav, Souji, and Knuckles, but also as more innocent characters like Yugi and Prince Sky.

I hope we continue to hear more from him. I know he's not doing much voice acting at the moment, and that's certainly understandable, but I enjoy hearing his performances.

He was great in Ikki Tousen, really good in all the Slayers, I loved him as Aya in Weiss but my favorite role of his has to be the two Kyo's. Demon Eyes Kyo and Kyoshiro Mibu in Samurai Deeper Kyo. That role was meant for him and he was perfect. On another note; you people posting about this mans wife stop it. You don't know him. YOU ARE IMBECILES!!!!

@ed: Sorry, but no one beats Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, though for what its worth he DID voice a character in Video Brinquedo's Transformers knockoff Gladiformers as Patrion Tokal (who was one of the more interesting characters next to Julius Drive)

and yeah, I enjoyed Gladiformers for what it was, it was entertaining and a guilty pleasure for me. But then again I have strange standards, I admit.

Dan Green, even among 4kids haters, is pretty dang popular. Not because his characters were any good, but because he's freakin' DAN GREEN, the Will Smith of 4Kids! He could say 'this is a good sandwich' in his Yugi voice and make it sound cool!

Comparing his and Trav Willingham's voices as Knuckles, you could swear they're practically twin brothers. They're SO identical!

Also, why doesn't the Mephiles character have a voice clip. ANSWER ME, DANGIT!
