Happy Birthday and RIP Chris Latta!

He really was an incredible VA who sadly had his demons. I mean his Starscream and Cobra Commander voice (his most iconic roles) have this unique high pitch and shrill voice that when most people try to do this, it can strain the throat. How Chris managed to pull this off, We'll never know? But then he also does tough gruff voices like Wheeljack, and Sparkplug which is very impressive and the fact he was the original Mr. Burns on The Simpsons. I've always wondered what would have happened if they kept Chris on the role and when he passes away would they have retired the character or would Harry Shearer have stepped in like he ended up doing so?

also if he were still alive, he'd most likely still be doing Starscream and Cobra Commander and more likely would do an approach similar to Steve Blum or Charlie Adler and it would have been awesome if Chris could have reprise Starscream in Beast Wars....so many great what could have beens. RIP Chris Latta!

Happy birthday and RIP Christopher Collins.

A really exceptional performer that was taken too soon from us. His Cobra Commander and Starscream were really full of energy and a lot of fun. He had all the good things of a radio actor. Although a lot of people have tried to imitate him, no one has ever surpassed him.

This guy had great range, excellent acting ability, perfect comedic timing, a lot of energy and a great ability for accents. This guy had all the things that a voice performer should have. That's why he's my favorite VA of all time, he was definetly the quintessential VA.

Sadly, he's another one of those performers who was taken too soon from us. And, like a lot of pre-1990s performers, he's becoming extremely underrated. :'(

What's even more depressing for me, is that he died in my first birthday (June 12, 1994).

RIP Chris. Thanks for all the fun moments you gave me with all your characters.

I can't believe how versatile he was. I knew he was Starscream and Cobra Commander but had no idea he was other characters in those series.

@meestah009 Yep, he was really versatile. I'm still amazed that he could do the Starscream/Cobra Commander voice as his actual voice is so different.

He actually looked just like Sparkplug Witwicky. I always pictured him as a thin guy who could go deep, but instead he was a large dude who could go very high and screechy.

@Polyester Funk Not only that, but he could go deeper than his normal voice. Just listen to his Defensor. It's a lot deeper than his normal voice.

He was wonderful voice actor who left us before his time at the age of 44. Too young but he will be with us at all times in our hearts. RIP Chris.

You guys should look up his stand up! He was pretty funny and made good use of voices in his routine!

@cardboardwalk His comedy was hit-and-miss, in my opinion, but his best was his routine about growing up in Harlem.

He did the voices on the Simpsons in the first season. He was Mr. Burns in the episode Homer's Odyssey and did the voice for Moe in Some Enchanted Evening, both in 1990.

Wow, I didn't know someone else ever voiced Mr. Burns. I just looked it up and he also did the voice of Moe the Bartender in some episodes.

Unfortunately, as stated above in his bio, Chris Latta left us way before his time in 1994. That being said, I am sure someone related to him is still getting royalties on certains voices...
