Happy Birthday Cathy Weseluck!

I think she has to without a doubt one of the best, if not the greatest boy voice any female VA has ever done. It's natural, smooth and most importantly believable. Her best boy performances is a three-way tie between Spike, Near and Garcia Lovelace.

She is also excellent a pulling off mature mother characters and even cute girls which is very rare to see. I'd like to see more of that. Another role of hers that also stands out to be that isn't on here yet is Cybersix/Adrian Seidelman. This cross-dressing anti-heroine from a very obscure cartoon of the same name I grew up watching in the mid 2000's on Teletoon.

I also love her other performances as Kati Mannequin, Mayor Mare, Coco Pommel, Khamsin Nbh'w, Kagome's Mother, Misa Takatsuki, Mirai Yashima, Dorothy Catalonia, Chiaotzu, Puar and Kid Trunks.

also I want to congratulated her for being cast in Ocean's newest anime dub "World Trigger" as Yuma Kuga. I am very much looking forward to this dub especially since this marks the true return of Ocean Studio's dubbing non-toyetic kids anime. Let's hope this is a start of so many more great dubs in the near future.

@Autovolt actually, Ocean's dub of World Trigger is a test dub commissioned by Toei International (much like with Stardust Crusaders) to entice US licensors to get it, meaning that the final cast could change from the test dub if someone gets it. If Funimation gets it then they would likely use a Dallas-based cast for it (and no, I don't want to hear Greg Ayres do Osamu Mikumo (voiced by Brad Swaile) just because they both voiced Keisaku Sato from Shana (I found Greg's role as him to be the worst cast of Funimation's cast of Shana and probably his worst role) and that Greg's known for voicing characters voiced by Yuki Kaji (who voices Osamu). Same can be said if Sentai gets it and has it dubbed in Houston). If Sentai gets it then they would use a Houston-based cast for it. (our only bets of the two giving the title to Ocean if they get it is if they decide to move over to LA). If NIS America gets it then they would use an LA-based cast. Same with Viz Media because they've pretty much abandoned Vancouver in favor of LA.

As I've said earlier, Ocean's biggest chance of getting more dubs done in this day & age is if their dub of DBZ Kai succeeds (and that dub is taking forever to premiere, making it all the more difficult), convincing producers of the anime companies that Ocean is still worth the money spent, since DBZ's a very lucrative title, and for it to succeed it has to be aired unedited and uncut on Canadian TV (preferably a Canadian Toonami) like the current US airing, and even that's really difficult since anime on Canadian TV is pretty much dead since 2010, when YTV got rid of Bionix (it doesn't help with the lack of legitimate anime streaming over there due to the lack of Hulu, which makes up the lion's share of anime streams).

@Domayv It would really suck if a company picked it up and they recast the cast which is already perfectly fine.

This keeps happening too much for my heart to bear. Just let Ocean have whatever work they can get.

@Autovolt Well, the decision with deciding which studio to use is left to the producers (they have the most say when it comes with that). It's a harsh truth but that's how it is.

As I've said earlier, if Funi or Sentai get it, then the only chance of them giving the title to Ocean to reprise from the test dub is if they decide to relocate to California (being a California-based anime company raises the chances of having the dub done in Vancouver), which is doubtful since that would probably mean abandoning their home studios, though Funi can consolidate and spin off their in-house studio and Sentai can do the same with Seraphim Digital (Sentai Filmworks, Sentai Holdings, AEsir Holdings, Section23, Anime Network, Switchblade Pictures/Maiden Japan/Kraken Releasing and Seraphim Digital are seemingly owned by the same person, presumably John Ledford, thanks to how dealt with ADV's closure (it's a long story), and he doesn't want to abandon his Houston studio by spinning it off as an independent company after relocating his company to California).

I think her voice clip of Spike (and maybe the Mayor) should be updated. Spike's voice has changed a lot from the beginning of season 1. It has developed a bit lower and not so "baby like".

@Dogman15 True. If everyone else feels the same, I could put together a voice clip that shows off more range than this one currently does and send it to whoever owns the Spike VC.

Though this is unfortunate since I made the foreign Spike voice clips to correspond with the scene from the current clip -_-;

@CatsTuxedo And if you want, while you're at it, maybe clips of Cathy's other confirmed characters? Oh! She just confirmed voicing Colgate in S2E25. I'll make a forum post about it.

@Dogman15 Since I now feel that I jumped the gun when I posted Granny Smith's clip due to not knowing how expanded her role would be in the second season, I've become more cautious about posting voice clips based on one or two appearances, because that character might have an additional appearance or two in the future, and the high probability of the actor not using the same voice for the same incidental pony (a good example would be Bon Bon if Tabitha really does voice her in the majority of her appearances thus far) only complicates matters further.

Happy birthday, Cathy.

I agree about her range.

To pull off characters like Near, Shampoo, Chiaotzu and Spike is amazing.

Great actress who has a fantastic range!

Voicing young boys like Near (Death Note) to middle-aged women like Kagome's Mother (InuYasha).

My favorite role of Cathy's is probably Shampoo (Ranma 1/2).
