What's this I see? Anna Paquin in a Pixar movie? How amusing. And to think that her first voice acting role was Sheeta from WAAAAAAY back in 1998. It'll be interesting to hear how far she's come since then. I've always liked her turn as this character, even though I know she sounds slightly more mature than her Japanese counterpart.

 1 Shout Out!
Happy birthday, Anna.

Interesting that Sheeta and Ray Steam share the same actress.

It's Hilarious because 2 of her 3 VA roles are anime. Haha! She must really like it!

So far, she's only had two voice acting roles to her credits. If I were to choose between Sheeta and Ray, the former is the better of the two. While her accent for the character sometimes falters (otherwise I think it's a nice touch) and a few lines are missed, she otherwise does a solid job at bringing out the character's vulnerability and innocence without sounding overly saccharine. She gets more into character by the end, too. Like James, she may not be the real star of the "Laputa" dub, but she's still quite underrated as Sheeta.

With Ray Steam, I felt that she sounded too strained, and it was distracting to hear her voice coming out of a boy. Another problem could be that I wasn't particularly fond of the film itself. So for me, her best role is Sheeta.

@JTurner Her accent is authentic. She's from New Zealand (though born in Canada), and she even has trouble keeping an American accent for some stuff. A decision must have been made to keep it for Laputa.

Sorry for necro-posting, I just wanted to get that out. :P

@PurpleWarrior13 No, no, no, that's perfectly fine. Once I learned about that aspect of her, then I understood. In a way, Paquin is also a bit like Sheeta, too, in that, let's face it, her character basically from one country but grew up in another. When you look at it from that aspect, the mixed-up accent makes sense.
