It's hard to believe we now live in an world without Adam West.

Batman wouldn't have became the cultural iconic it is now, without the 60's show. Sure it may seem dated, and way too ridiculously, but that was the charm of the show.

Adam West's voice had this commanding presence to it that made it stick out and was always a treat to see or hear him whenever he would appear in anything.

I am very much looking forward to his upcoming performance in Batman vs. Two Face with William Shatner, as not only will it be his final performance but finally we get to have West vs Shatner, it should be worth watching for this casting choices alone.

RIP Adam West.

You are already missed.

Adam West was always the definitive live action Batman to me. He was a boyhood hero to me as I was weened on reruns of Batman. I remember back in fourth grade impressing all the adults I met with my knowledge of the Batman show. I also remember feeling like such an adult when I was ten and read his autobiography. RIP Adam West, I already miss you.

RIP, Adam West: he was the original Batman in Animation, and while it's true that he was classic in the role bringing lots of fun to it, his performance is often not credited for the sheer love & passion he brought to it, either- he set a really good standard for his successors.

I also thought he was pretty funny as the narrator of Johnny Bravo, great as Thomas Wayne, and his Mayor of Quahog performance in Family Guy was always full of personality with the character's eccentric, yet quirky personality.

Whether you Loved or Hated his versions Batman, he poured his Heart and Soul into the Character.

He was also Delightful as Nighthawk, Thomas Wayne, Mayor Marion Grange and as Catman...

For Me Though, My favourite performance from him was as Simon Trent/ The Grey Ghost. There was such a Emotional rawness and Poignant Charisma to that role that West Delivered Wonderfully (to say nothing of his Great interactions with Kevin Conroy's Batman).

Rest In Peace Mr West..... Enjoy Your Bat Time In Heaven....

Adam West, the original Batman paved the way for future Batman portrayers. Kudos to Kevin Conroy, Christian Bale and Val Kilmer for honoring AW. AW also left a lasting impact on the animation industry. His talents on Family Guy was second-to-none, first-to-everything. Gotham, Quahog and the world will truly miss him very much. RIP AW.

Man, kinda disappointed that he didn't get another chance to play a more darker Batman like he did in the Super Powers cartoons.

Honestly, I think he was actually a better Batman than Kevin Conroy. Adam was the whole package. He could be a really goofy, bombastic, Batusi dancing crimefighter, or a tormented avenger with his own demons deep down.

You will always be remembered, and for me, you'll always be the definitive Batman along with Matt Crowley, and the voice I imagine whenever I read the 70's and 80's comics drawn by Neal Adams and Jim Aparo.

He gave solid performances as Uncle Art, Captain Blasto, Catman, Mayor Adam West, Mermaid Man (Young), R. You were one of the truest and greatest Batmen of all time, Mr. West. You carried so much presence, heart and soul throughout your run as Gotham City's Dark Knight, even as recently as Return of the Caped Crusaders just last year, and your comedic talents, even when archetyped, were legendary. You made for some of the best moments on The Fairly OddParents as Catman.

... and you never failed to make me laugh.

Rest well, Caped Crusader.

You were always the best Batman. Bale, Keaton, Affleck, Kilmer, even Clooney could've never compared to you, despite how well they were as their own incarnations.

And dammit, you made my childhood even if I didn't watch much of the old show. Catman, multiple animated guest roles, Mayor Adam West, the host of MST3K's Turkey Day, even that dumb old YTMND fad.

.. you are immortal in our hearts.

A little known fact about Adam West is that the person responsible for his career resurrection in the last 25 years was Conan O'Brien.

The show that really codified Adam West playing a character who's an eccentric version of himself was really codified by his guest spot on The Simpsons. But before that, there was a rejected TV pilot that never got picked up called Lookwell, where Adam West also played an eccentric character based on himself. What did both of these shows have in common? Conan O'Brien co-created Lookwell, and was one of the writers for The Simpsons.

Then of course he appeared on Johnny Bravo, which both Butch Hartman and Seth MacFarlane worked on, and that led to his appearances in Fairly Oddparents and Family Guy. And there was Grey Ghost which coincidentally happened around the same time, but that was more one Batman series paying homage to the one that started it all. But at the end of the day, Adam West's current persona, his legacy even, can really be traced back to that, and Conan O'Brien's work on The Simpsons and Lookwell.

Don't worry, Superman. Your secret identity is safe with us.

Happy birthday, Adam West.

He will always be known for his Batman, and with good reason too. He's also great in Family Guy, even though the show isn't (IMO) as good as it used to be.

One role that deserves a mention is his appearance on Goosebumps. I always enjoyed the TV version of Attack of the Mutant. And Adam's appearance as the Galloping Gazelle is definitely one of the best actors of the episode alongside Dan Warry-Smith
(Skipper Matthews) and Scott Wickware (Masked Mutant).

Happy Birthday Adam West!!!

My favorite live-action Batman performer. I really love the way he delivered the word "nonsense", he always made it sound very serious, yet it still sounded like a screwball, which was expected from the show. I also loved the more standard Batman he played in The Super Powers Team. So full of torment as well as full of anger, it was impressive to hear him play his Batman.

Of course, because of his Batman, he always gives a lot of enjoyment to the audience with his typical screwball straight guy attitude (whether his playing himself, his Mayor West character in Family Guy and every Batman parody a show can come up with, like Catman).

And his Gray Ghost role was pretty neat. I always been a fan of hearing a previous Batman performer interact with a newer performer (the first time this happened was in The Legendary Super Powers Show story Island of the Dinosoids, in which Olan Soule's Professor Stein and West's Batman have an entire scene in interacting with themselves), and Beware the Gray Ghost was really enjoyable because of that.

Thanks for all the fun moments you gave us and those that you will give us in the future.

Happy Birthday Adam West!

He has one of the coolest and distinct voices I've ever heard. He's pretty epic as the 60's Batman, a show that is so cheesy that it's good. But as Starscreamsfan has said below me Adam was very impressive at voicing a more serious Batman in the Super Powers Team cartoon episode The Fear which was the first cartoon ever to tackle Batman's origins.

With that said his career while it did get him to be typecast so much, it is amusing when he goes Adam Westing. Seriously his appearances on Family Guy, The Simpsons and Fairly Odd Parents were hilarious, even if the shows nowadays suck.

Then of course there was his role as The Gray Ghost on Batman the Animated Series which more or less was a role tailored for him but it's really fun to watch the old Batman and the (then) newer Batman Kevin Conroy get to team up and fight side by side. it's one of the best episodes in the show too. I also enjoyed some of the casting gag references in other shows he's done like Nighthawk and the young Mermaid Man.

Seriously this guy is awesome.

It's pretty awesome that he will be returning as Batman inthe upcoming Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders animated movies.

In the see of numerous direct to video Batman animated movies, it's nice to see one that's based off the original 60's TV show and have the few surviving cast members reprising once more.

It's pretty great to see a iconic actor still getting work and reprising their most iconic role late in life.

Happy Birthday Adam West!
